His Kind of Woman (1951) dir: John Farrow, Richard Fleischer Jane Russell
I loved him with Jane Russell. Their friendship off-screen made their on-screen relationships all the more palpable. (Also, she happened to look just like my mother. ) And I loved him with Deborah Kerr in everything they did together. They also had a strong friendship that worked for them on screen. And, of course, I loved him with Marilyn in RIVER OF NO RETURN, -- she was his friend before she was an actress -- and with Jane Greer in OUT OF THE PAST (don't know if they were friends or not). Everybody beat me to these, though.

Janet Leigh (1949) "A young widow is romanced by a sales clerk whom she inadvertently got fired." "In the kitchen scene, Mitchum gives Leigh a "Merry Christmas Kiss". Janet Leigh was to say later, "The expression that is on my face of being overwhelmed was for real". Mitcham was later to say, "I wanted to make the kiss memorable, as though the characters were never going to see each other again. The Perks of being an actor are at times not bad"."

CARROLL BAKER (1965) The latter-day Mister (Joe) Moses is a snake-oil pitchman who is chased out of an African village and is found, literally, in the bull-rushes by Julie Anderson, daughter of missionary Reverand Anderson who has learned that he is a diamond smuggler and threatens to expose him to her fiancé Robert; the district commissioner if he doesn't help lead an African native tribe to their new homeland. With the aid of a pitchman's accessories, including an ability to set fire to a bush, a friendly elephant and his carnival wagon, the schemer is forced to lead his newly found friends out of their settlement which is condemned to be flooded by a new dam.
