I don't care at all for most contemporary artists. If I had to pick one name from among them I think it would be Miley Cyrus. As for the ones you named, I like all of them a little but not enough to buy their albums. Although I did have Clapton's greatest hits album, Time Pieces.

In the realm of classic rock, I'd say Steely Dan. They never tripped my trigger.

Artists you don't like? That most people seem to like? Is there such a thing now as an artist "that most people seem to like"? It seems like the democratization of the music industry means that there are a number of different market segments for music, rather than one mass market.

Duchamp. I don't care what kind of "statement" it makes, the Readymade is just a urinal with some scribbling on the side.

Velvet Underground, U2, The Ramones, The Stooges, Sex Pistols, Nirvana, Clapton (outside of Cream)
Though I should say that most of these artists have a few songs I like.

Out of curiosity, would you please give example(s) of the 1% of "heavy metal" that you do like?

Out of curiosity, would you please give example(s) of the 1% of "heavy metal" that you do like? Stuff that gets labelled as such but is more what I would call "bar bands" like Bon Scott era AC/DC and the blues rock of Zep that also often gets labelled wrongly. Ironically the British bands that helped to launch the genre tend to be the most distanced from the "playing the scales as fast as you can" style of Yngwie and friends. Anyway, it's all just opinions, isn't it. 99% of people would loathe what I like. HM fans tend to be pretty thin skinned about any criticism of the genre I have noticed on music boards, whereas Smith's fans are too depressed to type a reply.

I'm a major fan of traditional heavy metal, but I don't take it personally when people criticize the genre. Thanks for the reply.

I of course come from the country music field and so the following are who I have never been able to grasp as well as others have for one reason or another.
Dixie Chicks (I am well aware of the name change.) Carrie Underwood Kacey Musgraves Kelsi Ballerini Maren Morris
God bless you and them always!!!
Holly
P.S. Wow, do I really have it in me to be so polite and respectful towards them considering how some of them have never hesitated to put other things out there?
