Just more proof that Hollywood is more focused on using crass humor to draw in an audience, rather than a compelling story. Why can't movies be the way they used to be?

My problem is with all these sequels, spin offs, remakes...
Like did we really need a remake of Annie?

Depends on which remake you refer to. 1999? Yes, I loved it. I probably like it more than the 1982 version. 2014? No, but I enjoyed it anyway. To each their own though.

Would there really be any difference between watching this or 21 Jump Street remake or Baywatch or Starskey and Hutch or whatever the fuck else they have done in exactly the same way?

My problem is with all these sequels, spin offs, remakes... Like did we really need a remake of Annie? you can argue we don't really need any film, I mean we didn't really need an adaptation of Iron Man and well we got one, so aren't you happy? or how we got a remake of The Fly or The Thing from Another World? I'm pretty glad we got those. regarding Annie? eh, why not? pretty sure there were plenty of kids who have never heard of Annie. if Annie turned out well then no one would complain, but since it's kind of "meh" and sequels, well if the characters are solid and the film looks to be open for another adventure then why not? I mean The Raid 2 was just perfect, Cap2 and 3, The Dark Knight, Bond #7629 and don't we all want a Dredd 2? but a film like Southpaw there's no real reason for a sequel, the story is concluded. now yeah Hollywood definitely likes milking properties, and yeah it's annoying, but it's not like we're obligated to go.

Trailer confirms prediction that there would be d*ck and homoerotic innuendo jokes.

You have a point, and of course The Fly, The Thing, House Of Wax (The Vincent Price one of course... and yes that was a remake) have filled us with joy and thrilled us. But I think everything has to be done for a reason? My personal favorite movie of all-time is The Godfather, and maybe younger generations have never seen it, but do we need a remake? Hell no. As for Annie the sole purpose of remaking it was so Will Smith's daughter could play the character, when that didn't happen they still went ahead and it was fucking horrendous. As for CHIPS, Baywatch, Starsky and Hutch and all those other shits I have no clue why producers want to bring these old properties back. I think CHIPS and Baywatch will bomb.

Chips will bomb, Baywatch will do fine, not amazingly but simply fine. i'm not saying remake any film, since some films are borderline impossible to remake like a Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Gone With the Wind, due to either content or how they are a cornerstone for cinema, but you can remake films which have stories that can be spruced up and reintroduced. don't get me wrong, the majority of remakes aren't great, because they have either nothing more to offer, or they miss the point of the original, but if they want to make them, make them, because I want to see what they want to do.

Like Shitbusters: No One Called, which missed the entire point and transformed a legendary film into a stupid political argument. And at certain point we have to draw a line and ask ourselves if we will support these stupid and inexcusable cash grabs by going to see shit like Annie, Robocop, CHIPS. And there are some great remakes out there, I'm not saying don't remake anything... but who the fuck greenlits CHIPS?

I was going to quote somebody but there are a couple people's points I agree with so I'll just address them here.
1. Never saw the show but am certainly NEVER going to see this movie. 2. I agree with whoever referred to those mistake Jump Street movies as being stupid, I said from day 1 they were, and can't believe they made money, and can't believe a 3rd one's going to come out. 3. The new Ghostbusters, yes, we all knew from the get-go it was going to be a flop, it's the only one that really did though when so many of these crappy remakes/reboots should've done the same thing and instead became 'box office hits'.

Robocop was "okay" and chips, who greenlit it? WB. ehhhhhh don't start.

I would have liked to have seen a CHIPs movie when Wilmer Valderrama was attached to it a decade ago.

It was supposed to be a sequel, but Paul Feig completely scrapped it all to make a movie with 4 female Ghostbusters, which is okay had he understood the concept of the movie. No, he did it w the sole purpose of expand the feminist agenda... now whatever agenda you may try to push, if it's more important than your movie, than your audience, than your fan base, your movie is shit and you're a POS.

I said from day 1, 4 women Ghostbusters COULD work if done right, if it was the original Ghostbusters' daughters taking over their dads' business and following in their footsteps. In fact I did a fanfiction story about that very concept several years ago long before Hollywood ever thought of it. You could see it working if each of the women had some part of their dads' personality and wisdom, that would've worked, this did not and I think we ALL knew it from the get-go. My brother, a life long Ghostbusters fan, held out hope when he saw pictures of the equipment and such and thought it looked promising. Surprisingly 4 women Ghostbusters didn't bother him, even though he's always going on about affirmative action, but once the spoilers were out he realized how bad it was.
