You keep insulting the anti-smoking majority by comparing them to an anti-scientific religious cult and you (mildly) insult people who have just given up smoking by calling them foolish. If it was proven that smoking saves lives and they are cutting short their own by jumping on to the religious cult bandwagon then, yes, they are foolish. But at the moment it’s like calling people fools because they step on cracks in the pavement/sidewalk. First, the majority here may not smoke, but that doesn't mean they are rabid anti-smokers. Most people believe "live and let live" and they don't worry that a waft of second-hand smoke from a burning plant leaf will kill them.
Second, since when is disagreeing with people an insult? Sorry, anyone is a fool if they quit smoking now and increase their risk of getting the corona virus. This stuff is not rocket science.
Sheesh. This is like trying to explain reality to Muslim fundamentalists. <<< [atheist eyes] Cracks in the pavement/sidewalk.

White knight!!!
Uh, I didn't insult Toasty. What, by pointing out his pseudo-religious zealotry? I suppose you think the atheists on the Religion board here are insulting religious posters when they post SCIENTIFIC evidence and they are told that faith is all one needs?
No, Stammaman, if you're smoking now and have no symptoms of lung cancer, there is a far greater chance you'll get the corona virus in the next 6 months than die of lung cancer. "cracks in the pavement" is a brilliant analogy

Just like nobody's going to change your mind. And trying to do so, over and over again, borders on presumptuous and rude. You know your point of view is not the only valid one. You really have no right to mock and ridicule another person's faith. And why do you care so much? Just do what works for you, light up and have a smile.

Sheesh. This is like trying to explain reality to Muslim fundamentalists. <<< [atheist eyes] No, disagreeing with someone is (obviously) not insulting the person. But calling them "idiots" and "fools" IS insulting them and this is what you just did. Your motives are questionable because, as Stammerhead said, you are not going to bring anybody to your point of view if you call them an idiot outright. You are going to antagonize the person right away. Proceeding with insults and all your absolutes makes YOU look rather foolish as you keep trying to be different and play the lone wolf.

I think foolish is the wrong term and insulting people is not the way to get the message across. It’s still early days on the benefits of nicotine and (as far as I can see) there haven’t been any explanation of how nicotine helps prevent getting Covid-19. If it’s just nicotine in the body then use patches. If the nicotine has to be directly applied to the lungs then use a less harmful method such as vaping. If there’s more chance of dying from lung cancer than there is of dying from Covid-19 then quit. White knight!!!

Where is all this religious zeal that Toasted Cheese is supposedly throwing around? I read his posts. Nowhere did he say anything about God or the bible or sinning or anything remotely close to it. What made you decide that he did? He doesn't even care if people want to smoke. You're into some heavy duty projection and it's coming across as a bit odd.

Its dumb that there are people quitting smoking?
Are you just... stupid?
Oy vey. It's dumb they're quitting now if nicotine kills the corona virus. I would wait and see what more researchers learn why smokers are not getting this virus as much as nonsmokers before I quit. Wait... your posit is that A) nicotine kills coronavirus? And B) because of that people should continue smoking?
Do you just make shit up and then believe it?

I posted the French study which shows 35% of French are smokers, but only 5% of French corona virus patients are smokers. A similar Chinese study had similar results. It's quite likely nicotine kills the corona virus on impact. Sorry, this is not the time to quit. Now stick a lit cigar up your ass and STFU. A) Quitting smoking is ALWAYS a good idea. ALWAYS! Pandemic or not. Probably more so since its CLEAR that healthier lungs will fight off Coronavius better than not healthy ones.
B) Those studies only state percentages. They make no conclusions about health one way or the other. So you're drawing your own conclusions without knowing what the fuck you're talking about, with your vast medical experience...
C) I'll STFU after your obviously DUMB ass does.

Stop behaving like a programmed automaton and adapt to survive. 35% to 5% are compelling numbers. If you're healthy now your risk of dying of lung cancer in the next 6 months is nil. But your risk of catching corona virus is probably better than 50%. I repeat... A) Quitting smoking is ALWAYS a good idea. ALWAYS! Pandemic or not. B) Those studies only state percentages. They make no conclusions about health. You're drawing your own conclusions. My being an automaton, or not, doesn't change that.

Sure, two studies are not conclusive. However, it would be great irony if the sheep in the OP quit smoking to avoid COVID and then got COVID because they stopped smoking.
I know Toasted Cheese is too self-righteous to get it. But the irony would be hilarious.
If they all started smoking again would they still be sheep?

If they all started smoking again would they still be sheep? Uh no, because there's no massive propaganda campaign which has been going on for decades to tell them to smoke. Smokers these days are the true mavericks. Anti-smokers are paranoid and irrational. This thread shows that. Oh yes, “the other people” tend to be like that.

Oh yes, “the other people” tend to be like that. Uh no, again, you never get it right. My side is not trying to tell anybody what to do, as your great little propaganda piece in the OP shows. GameBoy knows best and all the other people are weak minded sheep. It’s like you don’t even know when you are doing this thing.

I'm just not passive aggressive about it. When I change my user name to "None", you'll have something to talk about. Oh well, here’s an owl photo I’ve been tinkering around with...

I am the paradigm, Toasty. I will lead my people out from gay marriage and insipid queenliness to the promised land. Will smokers be banned from this promised land of yours? What I want to know is will the people currently living in The Promised Land have to be slaughtered first?

Plus, there's the best massive propaganda campaign that exists ever: A) Parents who are already addicted, and B) the addictive qualities of the cigarette itself

I’d say that the lack of a reaction to me changing my name to None and eventual disappearance shows how unimportant I am to Filmboards continued existence. No, we noticed. But you were being a passive aggressive attention whore so I ignored it. I'm still trying to figure out why you can be as snarky as you please, but you can't handle it when anybody dishes it back. That’s your take on what happened and you are entitled to hold it even though it’s not really what happened, it’s just your interpretation of what happened. Truth is that I have been growing increasingly tired of the continuous drama over there and decided to leave. As people can’t delete their accounts I copied and pasted some random text as my new password and effectively locked myself out. You and the others are now free to rewrite my history as you see fit.

Nonsense. Talk about a rewrite. We had an exchange of snark and you got all sensitive. It was childish. As I said, that is your take on what happened and you are entitled to it. I had been planning on leaving for some time and me promising to never reply to certain threads again gave me the impetus. You can still have fun telling people your side if that helps you feel more superior to a weak, spastic, retard creep like me. Remember throwing all those gems my way?

First you say we ignored your passive aggressive "None" stunt. Then you say I'm gonna post shit about you. I never had any attention of saying anything. It is what it is.
As for gems, the only real fight we had was when you gave Drew a pass for being a child molester, despite the fact that both Rouge and the other ladies provided ample evidence. I wanted to skewer that hypocritical bastard and you rushed to his defense.
As I said, that’s your take on what happened and you are certainly entitled to it. But I didn’t rush to his defence, I agreed with Hep that what was being presented was heresay and that sent you into a fit. I would have been happy to see actual proof but all you did was attack people who didn’t believe what you were offering. But hey, I’m a creep and you are something superior, why should you bother your head with the likes of me?

He had no score to settle, no wrong to right. But that's all in the past as far I'm concerned.
All I know is that you have a lot of pent-up hostility against me while I have none against you. I though we were just ribbing each other the other day. Apparently there was more spite on your part. Oh well, you were the one who decided to bring it up. My reply gave you the opportunity to agree with me on my lack of importance on Filmboards but you decided to go in the other direction. Must have been that spite thing you mentioned.
