Peter Pan pretty much hits all the right notes for me; masculine Disney classic, I've re-watched it as long as I can remember.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I expected. I guess that's because I didn't like Hook all that much.
Nice animation. Some great adventure, humor, though the music not all that memorable.
I was disgusted at the depiction of Native Americans! (just kidding, it was fine)

PETER PAN 1953 7/10 HOOK 3/10 RETURN TO NEVERLAND 4/10 As as stand-alone movie, PETER PAN 2003 works because of Rachel Hurd-Wood and Jason Isaacs (as CAPTAIN HOOK)'s performances, a true sense of magic and adventure, and deaths that manage to be darkly funny and still suitable for children. As a remake, it improves on the original in some ways: HOOK is more threatening and the title character is actually sympathetic. Not to mention that the latter's relationship with WENDY gets a real development. In the original, it was used for gags a few times and that was it. Here, it's a sweet romance with a sad yet mature and satisfying resolution. Unfortunately, this remake isn't overall better than the original nor a great stand-alone movie due to Jeremy Sumpter and Jason Isaacs (as GEORGE DARLING)'s weak performances, a bunch of silly gags and visual effects that even back then stunk more than the LOST BOYS' clothes and the pirates' breathe. 6/10 TINKERBELL 4/10 While I didn’t like TINKERBELL (not just because she's no longer portrayed as sexy), at least it had a somewhat interesting plot because it was about the title character's identity crisis. While TINKERBELL AND THE LOST TREASURE is partly about her fight with her friend TERRANCE, it’s mostly about a treasure hunt. There's no depth in that. TINK has a new sidekick named BLAZE. I hate him because: A) He makes a very annoying sound. B) He is to TINK what TINK was to PETER PAN, which is a constant reminder that she’s better as a silent sidekick than a talking heroine. When you have someone like TERRANCE around who’s constantly making a mess, you shouldn’t yell at them like TINK did... but that doesn’t mean that you have to apologize. She was right! 1/10 TINKERBELL AND THE GREAT FAIRY RESCUE is less boring than the previous installment, but it’s full of non-sensical moments. LIZZY GRIFFITHS (a human who befriends the title character) asks 5 questions in a row and it’s shown like she’s just a curious girl, but she’s fucking annoying! Also, didn’t TINK know that LIZZY’s father wouldn’t believe her that fairies exist? Then why did she keep encouraging her to say that to him, instead of showing herself in front of him? Why did LIZZY try to prevent her dad from seeing her flying in her room, which would've served as evidence? Why was the dad shown as a villain for not wanting to look at LIZZY’s book when he was trying to take care of the roof leaks? Yes, he was a bad father the rest of the movie, but in that moment he was right. 3/10 SECRET OF THE WINGS 4/10 THE PIRATE FAIRY 3/10 TINKERBELL AND THE LEGEND OF THE NEVERBEAST 1/10 The characters in PAN feel very different than their counterparts in PETER PAN. I assumed that it was meant to be a re-imagining, but the movie still tries to tie in to the story we all know (specially at the end). I realized that script writer Jason Fuchs made the mistake that a lot of people do when writing prequels: Since they're showing a different time period, they think that it makes sense for the characters' personalities to be different. That only works when the movie shows what caused the eventual change. Also, the plot is boring. However, it's not all Fuchs' fault; Joe Wright was the wrong choice to direct. He filled the screen with magical elements, but he forgot about the old-fashioned magic of cinema that Fuchs wanted to retain. Take for instance the scene where PETER falls and starts flying right before reaching the ground. Because of the way it was filmed, there's no sense of amazement (which the script clearly called for). Levi Miller's performance is good; Garrett Hedlund's performance is bad; Hugh Jackman doesn't pull off the over-the-top villain, but at least he tries. 1/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog ( here and here).

5/10. I'd need to rewatch it. I remember never liking the Disney version of Peter Pan. He always struck me as being a dick. Captain Hook and his crew were always entertaining.
