Of course not as good as the original but a worthy effort by someone who obviously knew the material well

Disliked it. Nothing there to really recommend. Nothing really works. Some scenes are worse than others but none of them are good. 3/10

My only complaint was making a prequel with the same title, making people assume it was a remake.

It's just okay. Not as bad as or as loathsome as Rob Zombie's Halloween.

My only complaint was making a prequel with the same title, making people assume it was a remake. The other issue is that it sort of functions as a remake. Other than the last scene tying it to the 82 film, it essentially follows the same structure and story beats, complete with a less exciting version of the blood test scene, and less interesting effects.

No, it was completely unnecessary and was a pale imitation of a classic without any of the charm or originality. And the crap CGI was a joke compared to the practical effects of Carpenter's movie.

It doesn't come close to '82 but I did enjoy it for what it is worth
