How much meat does a person need on spaghetti?! Get the hell outta here with that meat sauce! Wait, what?! A) Whats wrong with meat? IMO the more meat the better! and B) You don't have to have Meat Sauce. You can have Marinara if you still want a tomato based sauce, or have something else. A nice Quattro Formaggio for instance. If you're preparing the spaghetti yourself you can make it however you want, and if you're ordering you can order whatever you want. I'm not seeing the problem. You're hatred of the Meat Sauce is irrational... and I find myself strongly NEEDING to come to its defense. XOXO

I have seen "Born Yesterday". I liked it. Judy Holiday was cute, very appealing. She was also very funny and I don't have a problem with her Oscar win. I thought William Holden looked good in SB. I think you like him more than I do. I did have an issue with her win until I got to see the film, especially since she has been derided the win over Davis and Swanson. Holliday was wonderful and nice that a comedy performance was honored and a deserved one too. I have yet to see Eleanor Parker in Caged and I have never had any issue with Anne Baxter in Eve, even though the DeWitt critic claws tend to come out regarding her role in the film. She had me sucked in the first time I saw it and didn't know the story. 1950 has been regarded as one of the strongest years for the ladies competing for Oscar.
Holden aged quickly, but he was always terrific for my money and while you are more knowledgeable with the golden era of Hollywood films and stars, Holden's films always tended to just drop into my lap. I guess I was meant to know about his work for whatever reason. He was a hunky hunk of a man's man in SB. "Caged" is entertaining. I think it's pretty much the prototype for the overripe "women in prison" genre. Matron Hope Emerson is terrifying, monstrous. Also Agnes Moorehead shows up as the basically benevolent, but helpless to affect any change, warden. I thought that bit of casting was pretty spot on. I'm not sure who the 5th best actress nominee was for 1950. I'm thinking maybe it was Jane Wyman.
