We got a new roof last year and we had roofing nails coming out of the gutters for months after. I remember we had roofing nails all over the ground. They never picked up after themselves. It made me worry not just for myself but also because I have a dog. There were scraps, a mess, and roofing nails, all over.

We got a new roof last year and we had roofing nails coming out of the gutters for months after. I'll mention that to my husband sarge. Thanks! I think we made a good decision: we are having the roofers put up new gutters! Everything is about 17,000. There was so much wood rot. Ugh!

No way would it be safe for a pet!

We are putting up gutters too drf 17000. About how much was yours? I'm in California. My ears hurt so much yesterday and there is so much trash /nails on the lawn. Oh ! And paint! They painted fascia boards and got some on the grass. I need some trim and siding replaced and they wouldnt do that. I have to get a contractor for that Tell me all you feel comfortable sharing. Thanks!

Our landlord put a new roof on our building about 10 years ago. I remember the din when the old roof was being torn off. And, I'm not on the top floor. However, the result is comforting, during rain storms. This all came about because I wanted some siding and trim repaired. That will need another artisan. It looks good divtal but it is exhausting!

Thanks! im in a condo, the hoa is redoing all the roofs. At one point, there was like a tar smell and some furnace/smoker looking thing with a tube that went to the roof. They're doing some kind of rotation around all the buildings in stages. So right now none of the roofs have tiles on them and I expect that they will slowly move from building to building to place new tiles.

Inside seems okay. The first days when the AQI for PS2.5 was 4x the level that put it in the worst category. . I could smell it in our house . But it is down and I no longer smell it in the house. The fire near us is 30% contained. Really depends on the direction of the wind. Thanks for asking! BTW the roofers finished today. Gutters tomorrow. I can hardly wait.

It sounds like you've got quite a lot to contend with, all at the same time. Add in not being able to even breathe the air outside, and that's just too much. Is 30% containment considered a lot? To me it still reminds me that almost all of it still rages onward, especially with the unpredictability of wind. And all in the meantime you've got the workmen clomping on the roof. But maybe not, I mean, if they're doing gutters today, they don't actually have to get 'on' the roof, right? But it's still going to add debris all over the yard. Oh the fires and the smoke scare me.

The city inspector approved the roof and gutters! All is well. Lol

enigma72 I am having an estimate for a new roof today. When I bought this house one year ago the first thing the inspector said was the house needs a new roof. The people that put on a new roof the last two times were lazy. They just put shingles over top of the old ones. So now I have three layer of shingles. It will cost a lot of extra money for them to haul all the old shingles away.

I've heard about multi layers. Makes a mess! We had so much wood rot. One estimate was cheaper than our guy but was going to charge $100 per hour to repair the wood rot. We went with the guy who included it. The other issue we had was the time. These guys assured it done in 4 days. The other guy was going to take 2 weeks! Lots of variables to consider. Oh! And when can they start? Our guy got to us after 2 months!

If he was going to be late the least he could do is call and tell me.

I can't even get contractors to call me back! The roofers did. But I need some siding and trim replaced (if it doesnt touch the roof the roofers don't do it. ) Contractors don't return calls. Evidently there are tons of home improvement projects going on. It is crazy! Did the guy arrive?

Did the guy arrive? enigma72 Yes he got here just before 4PM. Seemed to looked it over good. Asked about putting siding on the one end of my house. He said if I hired him for the roof he would put gutter guards on for free. Said he would text me the estimate in a day or two. He also said if I hired him he could start next week.

That all sounds good! I think I should buy gutter guards
