Night of Something Strange also Killer Rack, Fangboner, Father's Day, Overtime (2011) Thanks, I haven't heard about half of these movies! 777thewrath I heard about Freaks of Nature, it seemed like a Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse rip-off to me. Correct me if I'm wrong. I forget to mention that I have already seen classics like Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Basket Case, Night of the Creeps, Re-animator, The Monster Squad, Critters and so on. If we talk about modern comedies than I really love Feast, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Teeth, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, Deathgasm, Slither, What we do in the Shadows. Cooties and Wolfcop was ok. Anyway, thanks for all recommendations.

Transylvania 6-5000 (1985) -Don't ask me why but I've always loved this one! It has a great cast: Jeff Goldblum, Ed Begley Jr, Geena Davis, Michael Richards, Carol Kane, etc. However, most people seem to hate the film (and with good reason, I suppose). It's a cheesy 80's send-up of classic horror films. A lot of the jokes fall flat but a few of the gags really deliver. Anyway, it's worth checking out. Same here. I think I have around 5-6 copies of the film in my collection (just in case if something happens) and I watch it at least 4-5 times a year. I guess most critics panned it as a rather "bad" Mel Brooks effort, but I always thought it was a hilarious little b-movie/horror-comedy spoof, that never takes it self serious, and everyone involved seem to have a blast. So much silly and stupid scenes, great chemistry between Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. and every scene with Jeffrey Jones and Michael Richards is pure comedy gold. "AAAH, the phone bit me" or "SMEEELL IT, SMEEEEEL EEEEVERYTHIING"Joseph Bologna is fantastic as Doctor Malavaqua and his little Mr. Hyde outbursts whenever he enters the "secret" hidden lab and goes all berserk on poor Radu and Lupi. "YOU LOWLIFES!"My favorite line has to be: "My father was a great man. And instead of being honored, they will only know him as the man who brought herpes to Sicily!"Donald Gibb as the Wolfman (Revenge of the Nerds movies and Bloodsport) also packs several great lines throughout the movie. I did notice his voice straight away, but had a bit of rough time linking it up to Ogre and Ray Jackson, but things like only made me love the film even more. Then you have the stunning Gena Davis as Odette, and I always had a thing for Carol Kane, she was quite something as Lupi, plus Teresa Ganzel ain't bad either. Easily a 7,5/10

House (1986) and its sequel from 1987 is a great watch. Fun movies with both comedy, a bit of horror/suspense and some very nice adventure/fantasy parts in there too. I see Basket Case (1982) is mentioned, but I think Frankenhooker (1990) is just as good if not a better or more entertaining straight up splatter/horror comedy, as Basket Case is a bit of a tragic tale, even in its full b-movie cheapness.
Gotta love Zorro, The pimp! He really do care for his bitches after all.
The Frighteners (1996), Braindead (1992), Bad Taste (1987) and Meet The Feebles (1989) are some of the best horror/parodies/comedies ever made, and certainly the best work Peter Jackson ever did.

I really enjoy 80's horror comedies like Blood Diner, TerrorVision, Class of Nuke 'Em High, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Return of the Living Dead. Do you have any recommendations for me? 80's/90's movies only. I have already seen ROTLD 2, The Toxic Avenger, Neon Maniacs, Highway to Hell, Braindead, Bad Taste. Housebound.

Nice to see another Transylvania 6-5000 fan here. You got me beat though, I only have one copy of the film in my collection and I watch it once or twice a year. I guess we are one of the very few, or at least it seem like that. Anyway, it is their loss. The reason why I have so many copies, is that I always find it lying around for absolute nothing in second hand movie stores, and I don't have the heart to just ignore it, so I will probably end up with many more copies in the near future. I see that Anchor Bay have released the film at least 4-5 times (or more) but I do not think there any thing new on them, and the chances of getting some bonus material added along, is probably not very big these days. My favorite VHS/DVD copy is the scandinavian release (from 2001), not that it is a big difference in picture/sound quality, but I do love the old VHS movie poster, and they also use it on the DVD copies, which I think is a far much better looking artwork than the Anchor bay version. The Anchor Bay version: The Star Media Entertainment (scandinavian VHS/DVD version: The film also comes with a neat and catchy theme. Cheesy as hell, but I love it.

I think 'Ravenous' has probably become my favorite horror-comedy.
Also, though most people for whatever reason find it to be a "disturbing" film, I found 1983's "Angst" to be full of subtle dark humor. I smiled all the way through.

I just have seen Transylvania 6-5000 and I hated it. Definitely not the kind of humor I was looking for. Sorry guys. But I have to admit that the main theme is catchy and fun!

I came for 'House', but someone already mentioned it. One of my favorites. I don't remember if anyone mention 'The Gate' yet, but it's 80's silly in the best way.
I know you said 80s/90s, but there are some good newer horror comedies. If you haven't seen them, check out 'Dead Snow' and 'Bubba Ho-Tep'. I'm hoping Peele's 'Get Out' will straddle the horror comedy line well--it looks cuckoo fun! But I haven't seen it, so I don't know. Another new one that's supposed to have that 80's factor is 'Beyond the Gates', but I haven't seen that one either.

I Bought a Vampire Motorcycle (1990) - Horror splatter comedy that's ridiculous, low-brow and the humour is very British.
Mosquito (1995) - Straight-to-video creature feature horror fare with varied old-school practical effects and stop-motion. Sometimes wonky, others times effective. Upbeat, but lame brain... but it knows it and plays to that. Gunnar Hansen also makes acquaintance with an old friend.

No need to apologize for not liking Transylvania 6-5000, I guess it's just one of those films that you either like or hate. Yeah, that main theme is not an easy one to shake off after it has gotten stuck between your ears, but the end theme Pennsylvania 6-5000 by Glenn Miller is even worse to get rid off, once you heard it:

Bubba Ho-Tep is a masterpiece, easily one of the funniest and most entertaining movies of the early 00s and probably the best movie Bruce Campbell have done since the Evil Dead trilogy, (I do however prefer Bubba over Army of Darkness). The Gate (1987) is a childhood favorite of mine, with a great blend of horror, fantasy and a bit of adventure/comedy, I even enjoyed the sequel that came out a couple of years later on, The Gate II: Trespassers (1990) which is more of a comedy than horror, but I liked the fact that Louis Tripp now has the leading role and hooks up with a sweet chick (that did look a lot like a younger Demi Moore) but all in all, the movie is nowhere close the same quality as the original, but still worth to check out for its goofy/silly plot and b-movie special effects.

I am a shamed to have forgotten about that one. A real cult classic and my all time favorite Tom Hanks/Joe Dante film. "Mutilations. MUTILATIONS!"Bruce Dern as the crazy war veteran Mark Rumsfield and Rick Ducommun (RIP) as the manipulative and paranoid Art Weingartner are among some of the best and funniest characters in any 80s film. Wendy Schaal of course, total babe: "No tan lines today mrs. rumsfeld. . .looks nice." and probably Carrie Fisher's finest role beside Princess Leia (in my humle opinion). Fantastic cast, even the dog (Queenie) are doing a great job. Such as shame that this one is almost never talked about, and I always get surprised by how badly it got treated by a lot of the critics.

By the look of it, the film have picked up on the positive ratings for the past 7-8 years, as I think was way below 6,0 (5,6) or less back then, but now it stands on 6,9 which still is far too low (or so I think) but I guess it is just one of those gems that seems to go under the radar for most people, but still has a loyal fanbase who will ensure that it never be forgotten.

Does the Nightmare on Elm Street series count as horror comedy? What about the Sleepaway Camp series? Robert Englund was in a short-lived and wonderfully campy 90s television series called "Nightmare Cafe" for a while, as well. You may enjoy that. It isn't an 80s/90s film, but Zombieland is one of the best horror comedies I've seen.

Check out "The Stuff." It's a 1985 horror comedy starring, Michael Moriarty and Garret Morris, among others. It is ridiculous and scary at the same time. It is one of my all time favorite movies.
