I just looked at the weather in Mobile. It looks like you're area is still windy, but "outta the woods." I hope I'm right. I watched a couple of storm-chasers on their live YouTube feeds, last night. They're braver than I am, but I may be smarter than they are.

All is well here, the people on the coast got battered pretty bad, it was 1mph short of being a Cat 3. Still a lot of flash flood warnings. Our part of Saraland is is good shape, I have no idea about the rest of Saraland. We will have some nice cooler days. I'm glad its over. WKD is hungry but I told him I'm not turning on the oven until 5:30pm, he wants blue hake.

I'm watching the local news, there has been some really terrible damage on the Eastern Shore of Alabama. National news doesn't do much when it comes to covering Alabama, CNN had a reporter in Pensacola, Fl. talking about the damage in Florida and barely mentioned Alabama even though Sally hit land in Alabama. Dauphin Island was hit bad as well as the towns of Fairhope (artsy town) and Foley. the shore and West Mobile is still without power. There are downed trees everywhere. I have an appointment with my eye doctor tomorrow but that might be cancelled.

I was supposed to have an eye appointment today, My eye doctor is in Mobile - I couldn't get to his office, the road was blocked by a huge, downed Magnolia tree. They didn't answer their phone so I decided to just come home - they probably never opened and didn't both letting anyone know. On the way to Mobile, several traffic lights were out and there were big piles of branches on the side of the roads. Coming home I had to take a different route which took me through some of the poorest sections of Mobile. There were no utility trucks in these sections and it looked like the residents were trying to clean up the mess themselves. I know this happens all over, the poorest neighborhoods get the least amount of service. This is a real shame.

There was a huge storm here. Trees down. Flooding. Gutters clogged. My husband and I took a quick drive around town to see the situation before we picked up my daughter at her day program. As you noted the poorer areas were cleaning up themselves. In one of the newest/nicest areas was a city worker. I exaggerate not: he was clearing about a handful of leaves from the drain. Your observation was accurate. Edit: the justification is newer areas pay more taxes

Thanks! Its pouring now and we lost TV, the wind gusts are pretty strong, like the old timers always tell me : East is the beast, West is best when it comes to hurricanes and we're East. Zeta made landfall at a high Cat.2 almost a Cat. 3, Its a fast moving storm. Hope we don't get a tornado. The wicked kitties are all upset.
