Description of the CinemaCon footage: "Opens on pumpkin, kids running around and two of them swinging in a park. A woman asks, 'Hey, what are you guys doing out here? Are you alone?' A kid responds, 'There's a creepy man in a white mask, and he's trying to play hide and seek with us.' The woman asks where he is, and then sees Michael in the distance. Michael jumps on top of a nearby van and attacks the people inside. Another woman tries to shoot him but is out of bullets. Smash-cut to the house fire from the end of the previous film. Then we see the police interrogate the Strode family about the fire. They talk about Michael, but one of the cops says Michael is still alive. Laurie says in a voiceover, '40 years ago, the boogeyman came for us. We are the survivors of Michael Myers.' We then see the survivors from the past films, including Anthony Michael Hall as the new version of Tommy. We then see Allyson trying to attack Michael but loses the fight. Karen yells, 'You wanna fucking kill someone? Take me!' Another scene of Laurie in the hospital with a bloody knife, saying, 'I wanna take his mask off and see the life leave his eyes.' Trailer ends on Laurie trying to take off his mask." screenrant.com/halloween-kills-movie-trailer-description-cinemacon-details/

Interesting nod to Season Of The Witch in the trailer.

Doesn't bode well. It's early, but that's too bad. I'll still be seeing it.

Variety: "It Will Feed Your Nostalgia…for Mediocre Slasher Sequels" Honestly, pretty much what I would have expected. Certainly not the worst case scenario.

Variety: "It Will Feed Your Nostalgia…for Mediocre Slasher Sequels" Honestly, pretty much what I would have expected. Certainly not the worst case scenario. Michael Myers is the OG slasher in my book, and just from the reviews, even the bad ones mention that he's down right brutal to almost Zombie's level of violence as we see the kills in all it's gory glory, so I'm all for it. Here's where I stand really on this new trilogy. On a cynical level, it's simply just a cash-grab, even with bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis and didn't really need to be made. But, on a more optimistic level, with any franchises or series of any genre that have had revamps and been revisited, from Star Wars, James Bond, Rambo, Terminator, Predator, Alien, Halloween obviously, to, while they all eventually just run out on originality, it is nice to see each generation get their own versions essentially. Let's be honest, what else can you do with the franchise? Exploring what makes him evil didn't work in the older films or to an extent, Rob Zombie's films, so just upping the kills is really all you can do for a slasher film.

I'm more or less on the same page. I was hoping the last one was gonna be a little bit more in line with the original since that was the approach and they hired an art house director, so while I'd rather have had spare tension building style and a quiet intensity than have it basically be like Jason in the suburbs, that's where we are now and I just wanna have a decent version of that approach. We were always gonna get another Michael Meyers movie and so far I'm happier with these than the Rob Zombie ones.

The reviews are about what I expected... except I didn't know Will Patton was coming back. Didn't he get stabbed in the throat AND run over by a car? And speaking of questionable returns, CGI Donald Pleasance? Oh no.
I was excited for Anthony Michael Hall and the return of Tommy, but it seems like him and his posse are getting mixed reactions. I almost expect them to sing
"Raise the flag, sing the song Here we come, we're 50 strong And 50 Haddonfielders can't be wrong Let's kill the Shape Kill the Shape, kill the Shape!"

Oof. Doesn’t surprise me though. I didn’t think much of the 2018 one. Overhyped and overrated.

I know he's gonna be in it, but I got a feeling it's not gonna be a whole lot than a glorified cameo, but I wish we had more focus on Leigh Brackett. Not in just this current trilogy, but in any of the continuations. I know these movies have always been Laurie's story and her family fighting Michael, but Leigh Brackett has just as much reason to want to kill Michael for killing Annie and it's never been something seen until now at least. I hope he has his own moment to shine.

I really love how this new timeline ignores the other sequels yet makes the exact same mistakes. I always found it weird Bracket didn't have a bigger role in II. Having him back for revenge would have been the logical move.

I was going to make every effort possible to see this in theaters, but this news makes me happy. Watching a new Halloween from home on a Friday night in the middle of October sounds extremely appealing right now. Now I just gotta make sure I have enough Octoberfest beer and Reese's peanut butter pumpkins on hand.

You might be able to do a free trial, which I certainly would do if it's possible. But I'd like to go to the theater if possible. I still haven't been back, but I would really like to see something in a theater again soon. What's your go to oktoberfest? When October rolls around we always get into the pumpkin beers. Try to sample as many as there are.

However, given current events, I have no problem shelling out for a month of Peacock to see this thing in a drama-free setting. I'm fully vaccinated and not particularly nervous about the variant(s) right now, but as we get into the cooler months, I'm less keen to play those odds. I respect anyone's decision to go to the theater and make that call for themselves. It's just not worth it for me, as I am not huge on crowds in the first place and can live without the theater experience if need be. Having said that, I saw The Thing on the big screen two weeks ago (in a theater with only a dozen other people, all spread out) and it was awesome. Also, this is a good local choice when I can get my hands on it:

Not sure what's local to you or how far they distribute, but for me the Halloween season starts for real when I have my first Shipyard Pumpkinhead with a cinnamon sugar rim.

Yup, Shipyard is always a good choice! I live in Maine, so that one's a local beer. 🍻

Was that Lenny Clarke in the trailer? I know David Gordon Greene worked with him before on Stronger. Funny to see am old stand up turn up here. His ultra thick Boston accent probably sticks out like a sore thumb in Haddonfield, Illinois.
