Thanks for posting that.. It's great to see things written at that time, as opposed to retrospective revisionism.

Wasn't there some crazy actress that auditioned for Catwoman for "Batman Returns"? I think she even stalked Tim Burton and showed up in a Catwoman outfit.

Richard Stanley losing complete control of The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996) production. So much so that he was fired midway through and replaced with John Frankenheimer.

Will Smith turning down The Matrix for Wild Wild West. Sean Connery has gotta be the worst when it comes to picking films, he turned down: The Matrix Jurassic Park Lord of the Rings Harry Potter

I think I remember reading the author of "One Flew over" wanted Caan for the role (he hated Nicholson as the casting choice). Sonny Corelone does indeed remind me quite a bit of McMurphy.

Will Smith turning down The Matrix to do Wild Wild West. Molly Ringwald turning down Pretty Woman. Shame. I've always been impressed with Will Smith's range as an actor. In Bad Boys he played a cocky, arrogant police officer. In Independence Day he played a cocky, arrogant fighter pilot. In Men In Black he played a cocky, arrogant secret agent. In Ali he played a cocky, arrogant heavyweight boxer. He would've brought so much nuance to Neo, something I feel Keanu Reeves just didn't provide.

I think Smith does better drama than comedy, actually. He was great in I Am Legend. But I'm a Keanu fangirl, and love him in The Matrix.

The Wizard of Oz
"Over the Rainbow" was nearly cut from the film; MGM felt that it made the Kansas sequence too long, as well as being too far over the heads of the children for whom it was intended. The studio also thought that it was degrading for Judy Garland to sing in a barnyard. "

I think he was actually offered Superman also. Speaking of being offered Superman. That reminds me. Josh Hartnett turned down 100 million to play Superman. That's a legenday facepalm.
