It'll be close. Fox has already lifted the embargo on Logan and has confidence in it. Reviews are great and the holds on this could be very good.
No word yet on Kong. This movie will depend on word of mouth. I'd still say no. Kong should make more on its first weekend unless the reviews are terrible.

Why should Kong make more money than Logan? Make no sense for me.

People are more excited to see Logan. I dont see this on Kong. Will be just another CGI overkill movie with giant monsters. Not really impressive.

Why should Kong make more money than Logan? Make no sense for me. How much do you expect Logan to open with and how much do you expect Kong to open with? Do you expect Logan to do Deadpool? Or Apocalypse? Is Kong going to track like Godzilla? How do you know more people are excited for what? YouTube views? Social media trends? Friends? How much will Logan drop in it's second week? I'm saying it will be close because I don't see Kong grossing less then 40M on opening weekend. Maybe Logan grosses 90M opening (not likely, this isn't Deadpool). Drop will be +50%. All said and done, I think it has a chance. Just not a big chance.

If the reviews continue to be at such an amazing and unexpected level on Rotten Tomatoes, the initial projections for LOGAN can way exceed the initial tracking indications! Only 17 more FRESH reviews ( it already has the minimum 5 Top Critic reviews) and it will be a CERTIFIED FRESH rating on the Tomatometer ( the best accolade around). I am hoping it garners this level before the movie opens on March 3!
At the moment, here is its current Rotten Tomatoes rating --

^This. And not forget it will be the final X-Men movie Hugh Jackman, and finally with an R-Rating which wants Fans since the beginning. Kong on the other hand, will be as i said, just a casual CGI overkill boredom.

Maybe Superhero Movies. But movies like Kong not really. Look at Goodzilla or Pacific Rim. And no, Logan will dominates the Box Office. Only Beauty and the Beast could be a danger. And as i said, people are more excited to see Logan. And not the great ape for the sixth time.

That great ape has a different story this time and trailers plus tv spots looks great so I hope Kong will perform good at the box office. The cast is well known too so I think it's highly unlikely that Logan will come close to kong on the kong's opening weekend.

The LOGAN China opening will coincide directly with BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, also in China ( March 17). Hugh is expected in Beijing to promote the movie on March 1. To-date, 10 of his movies ( XMen and otherwise) have been allowed to be shown in China.

I don't think that any of the two will be in the year's top 10 box office

What makes everyone think Kong will do that good? The marketing isn't even that heavy and for all we know, it could end up sucking. Kong may be an iconic character, but so is Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

They are a bunch of Logan haters. Thats why they believe, Kong will be makes more money. Hey, hey. What makes you think I, or anyone who has posted here, haters? The OP asked a question is Logans 2nd weekend would be higher then Kongs 1st weekend PERIOD. Many, including myseself, think not. OP didn't ask about China box Office, what will be the better movie, or what people are looking forward to. Post what you think Logan will open with domestic. Then post what you think Kong will open with domestically. Then instead of having a meaningless argument, we can have a discussion on box office.
