A four hour movie as a major theatrical release would never fly in the 21st century. They would have to put an intermission for sure.

Revisited last week, my grade remains a substantive A-I did re-watch it over several nights, each Part on its own. It's kind of a shame we'll never see it theatrically, & yet it's not as much of a fun circus show as the MCU, which probably plays better intimately at home. Yeah, it's basically a miniseries. I can't imagine sitting through it in a theater. I think what I can appreciate most of all is how the Parts are even treated like episodes. They've each direct themes & arcs. Like a graphic novel broken down into its original shorter form comics.

Watched it again recently and forgot just how good it was, it's so much better than the original it's just ridiculous.
I don't know even know if I prefer this to The Avengers, in some ways it is better.

Looking back, it’s pretty wild that Snyder was allowed to make something for HBO Max that WB clearly wanted no part in. If it weren’t for the higher ups at AT&T, this cut of the movie never would’ve seen the light of day, and even then, they probably wouldn’t have even greenlit this if they knew they would be releasing their entire 2021 film slate directly on HBO Max. The fact that the Snyder Cut was released at all is proof that sometimes, miracles can happen.

Heck, if he could have made Avengers 4 hours then it probably would have been better than the theatrical cut.

Possibly but the extended cut adjust felt more needed for Justice League.
With Avengers, all the Heroes expect for Hawkeye had been established and even the villain Loki. You could even say the same for the plot device object the Tesseract too.
Justice League had to debut half its roster, Steppenwolf and the Mother Boxes. It just felt empty originally because it was all glossed over.

Tough break.
TEXT: Following this morning's announcement that this year's Oscars ceremony will be highlighting a film that was selected by fans on Twitter as a "fan-favorite," audiences began sharing their love for notable 2021 films. While a number of blockbusters quickly earned attention through the campaign, fans of Zack Snyder were quick to start casting votes for Zack Snyder's Justice League, hoping to ignite enough support and attention for the film to earn the distinction. Unfortunately for those fans, there were certain conditions a film must have fulfilled, with the official Oscars website confirming that Zack Snyder's Justice League was not an eligible film. Despite the implication that "favorite 2021 movie" might seem like a simple enough concept, the official Oscars website clarifies matters a bit. "An entrant's Favorite Movie can be any of the eligible movies for The 94th Academy Awards -- all movies are displayed on the Oscars website," the rules stipulate. "Home movies or films which are/were not eligible CANNOT be used as Favorite Movie." comicbook.com/dc/news/justice-league-zack-snyder-oscar-fan-favorite-category-not-eligible/

I don't know even know if I prefer this to The Avengers, in some ways it is better. It'd be a no brainer for me if the final chapter didn't exist. Imagine this came out in theaters in 2017, the movie ends and you're ready to go, then you have a 30 or so minute epilogue of nonsense like Joker offering Batman a reach-around and Martian Manhunter's awkward JLA audition.

Finally got around to seeing this cut of the movie...and it definitely needed cut more. It was a bit too long for taste and still just as messy as the film that was released to theaters. I love these characters for sure but they sure deserved better treatment in their first "get together" movie.

I’m normally against movies being excessively long, but in the case of ZSJL, it didn’t bother me. Given the unique circumstances surrounding it, I think it earned the right to be incredibly long and self-indulgent.

For me the biggest shame of not seeing more of this particular version of the dc universe movies is that we..
A. Wont see more New Gods stuff. We only saw the tip of the ice berg here and it was awesome!
B. We wont see more Superman.
C. We don't see more Henry Cavill as Superman.
DC movies really doesn't know whats good for them. And they certainly don't understand what a great character they have in Superman, regardless of who they cast.

Snyder shared a cool behind the scenes video from the making of Justice League. It's a bit of test footage that he shot while previewing what the Flash's speedster powers would look like in action. The slow-mo close-up of a stuntman's running feet looks very cool, even with greenscreens all around. "Shot this with my phone as an example of what the shot could look like...good times," Snyder wrote.

Thanks to Kevin Smith, the Snyder Cut has returned for a special event put on by "New Jersey's Only Podcast Theater."
