Mel Blanc. He was hit by another car while driving and went into a coma for a few weeks. Thankfully, he recovered.

Not a car accident but James Garner was in a fender bender and was beat up by an ex-green beret and put in hospital. Some speculation that it wasn't an accident but a message about him seeking a lawsuit about unpaid royalties on The Rockford Files.
He wasn't deterred.

Werner Herzog rescued Joaquin Phoenix from a burning car crash in 2006. I've never heard of this incident. Must do a Google search.

I believe the Mark Hamill accident happened after STAR WARS. His part in EIGHT IS ENOUGH was replaced. When they did the HOLIDAY SPECIAL they went overboard on the makeup to hide the scars. By the time EMPIRE came, they kept the scar, writing it as Luke getting hit by a Wampa.
As noted for Blanc, the actor was so hospitalized that Hanna Barbera had him do his FLINTSTONES voice work from his hospital room.
Harrison Ford got his chin scar from a car accident.
Merle Oberon’s accident led to the cancellation of I, CLAUDIUS. Her later films required a special camera focus to hide the scars.

Doris Day, still in her mid-teens, was a day or so away from leaving for Hollywood to become a professional dancer when the car she was riding in was hit by a train, shattering her leg so badly that she received treatment for it for over a year. She switched to singing and made a name for herself that way.
Mel Blanc's accident left him in a coma for two weeks. His family was unable to get any kind of verbal response from him and feared the worst. A neurologist had an idea that Blanc would instinctively react to verbal cues triggered by his busy career as a voiceover artist. He asked his patient, "Bugs Bunny? How are you doing today?" Blanc automatically responded, ""Myeeh, what's up, doc?" The doctor then asked, "Tweety! Are you there, too?" "I tawt I taw a puddy tat!" Blanc responded. Blanc's son Noel gives partial credit to Bugs Bunny for saving his father's life.
Several years ago, Dick Van Dyke was pulled from his burning car by three strangers who spotted him struggling to escape from the vehicle on a freeway. Three years earlier, he was also saved by three strangers who spotted him stranded on his surfboard in the ocean (he had fallen asleep on it and it had drifted away from the shore). In that case, the three strangers were friendly porpoises.
