so... i had covid in January and when I got tested for Igg antibodies 6 weeks later, I had none.
Got vaccinated 4 weeks ago and when I got tested for Igg antibodies today, again I HAVE NONE. What gives, Covid?
Have been googling a lot and it seems its extremelly rare that this would happen and its unclear what it means.
There was one study in Italy comparing igg antb levels and neutralizing antb levels in people post covid/ post vaccine and they had exactly one subject with results like mine (no igg response after either) so I emailed them to ask what that meant and if that person had memory cell/ other type of response and am really hoping they will get back to me - but maybe they are not allowed to share anything more who knows.
But it sucks to learn I didnt develop any even after the vaccination!
Anybody in the same boat here by any chance?

I had a coworker that happened to. I never seroconverted the Heb B vaccine.

Maybe your initial Covid test was a false positive.

Maybe your initial Covid test was a false positive. nope. it was a rapid one at first which is very rarely false positive and then pcr later PLUS my husband also had it AND developed antibodies right after. Very hard to believe I would have two false positives and also didnt catch it from him. Regardless of having had covid though - I should still develop antibodies after getting the vaccine....

can you explain what the second sentence means? I never developed antibodies from the Hep B vaccine, unfortunately. so.. did that mean you were not immune against it even after proper vaccination? š±š°š¤

Are you sure that the vaccine necessarily produces IgG antibodies? I ask because everything I'm pulling up says some people *may* test positive for IgG antibodies after being vaccinated.

I have now reviewed several studies results on this and in some studies it was All people that developed it, in a few it was 95% or so. In one ot was 1 person (that didnt get igg) out of 150 tested subjects. Specificaly Igg. now they are not sure igg is the only marker correlating with protection or what it all really means but it seems to develop in most people post vaccine.

so.. did that mean you were not immune against it?? š±š°š¤ Nope, it happens I guess. Yeah. So the leader of the study already responded to me. I am a ānon responderā which based on her expertise and the study they condicted means I am not protected. She is an immunology and virology expert with double phd. She suggested to check if I responded to other vaccines in my life. But it doesnt look great with Covid, since the person that didnt develop antibodies after covid or vaccination didnt develop neutralizing memory cell antibodies protection either. Fml. Fml hard.

Ill try just not to overanalyze all of this. And will continue to protect myself...

That sucks! š” Did you ask about trying a different vaccine? Yes. The lady was so nice talking to me all morning! She said no point trying another vaccine from whats on the market now, as they all target to raise the same antibodies, I have to wait for the next generation that will be āantigenā and target specificaly Tcells. One such vaccine is being clinically tested as we speak: www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.04.05.21254940v1 I already emailed them asking when they think they will go to market. She also said that regardless of my concern over antibodies she would not recommend mixing the current vaccines as it could potentially mess with the immunity system or rather - it has not been properly tested that it wouldnt. So... if anyone here runs into the same problem - has been vaccinated and shows no IGG antibodies, its likely that the TCell targeting vaccine would work better for them. However she says the number of non responders to vaccines is fairly small in general population. She also told me she is working on a study outlining the TCell part in covid immunity better as we speak and really believes thats the way to go.
