A strange one that works on its own (admittedly oddball) terms as a kind of docu-horror. Filmed on location, it developed a cult following. I caught it many years ago on cable and was strangely drawn into its drive-in style, the eerie mood, the naturalistic (probably just plain amateurish ) acting. It's a guilty pleasure of mine if ever there was one.

Great low budget horror film. Apparently, it's based on "real" sightings of a Bigfoot type creature that was allegedly seen in Fouke, Arkansas back in the day. I love the film's raw, documentary-like look and feel.

Have you seen the sequel? Nope. Is it any good? The original is so, um, unique. Can lightning strike twice?

Boggy Creek really needs a proper remastered release. Why this film hasn't been properly released on DVD or Blu when The Town That Dreaded Sundown and even The Evictors have got remastered releases is beyond me.

In some weird way the poor quality of the print did enhance the documentary aspect of the film but overall it detracted from its mood.

It's a perfect night for mystery and horror. The air itself is filled with monsters.

Saw this when I was super young and it was great! I wonder if it holds up.

I think it holds up nicely and my first viewing of Boggy Creek was about twenty years ago. It captures the spirit of its time but it's also sort of timeless. Kind of a "something in the air" film, as in of the period it was made in. Deliverance is another from about the same time that captures that spooky back country vibe . These things don't date.

It's okay, but if you really want to torture yourself check out the sequels.

It will be another one I look out for on TCM or by luck the COMET channel too .

This film terrified me when I Was a kid. We lived near a river and whenever my mom called me in to the house at night during summer and I ignored her all she had to say was "the boggy creek monster is gonna get ya" and I would tear into the house !

Bigfeet movies-a staple of the late 60s and 70s. There was a guy in 2000 something who got an inheritance of a million dollars and decided to use it to make a bigfoot movie. The costume didnt work so he had a cgi face pasted on the thing. He also shot in a forest and was forced by law to have a park ranger on hand, sitting around reading a newspaper. The ranger was paid more than anyone in the film. I think he sold it to the SyFy channel but he said that he should have used half the money to buy a house instead. On this film though-Charles Pierce was an example of a regional filmmaker at a time when there was a distribution market for such folk (another example is Bill Rebane of Giant Spider Invasion fame. filmmakermagazine.com/102185-the-art-of-the-possible-charles-b-pierces-arkansas-cinema/

This film scared the hell out of me when I was a kid. Something about the low-rent, home movie look of the thing made it all the more terrifying.
I tried watching as an adult (still many years ago, mind) and couldn't get through more than a few minutes of it, so I guess it's actually a terrible film after all, but it'll always have a place in my heart as a thing of nightmares.
