I am not surprised. I have seen the reviews for it and everything that the critics said about this movie is what I feared this movie would be. This movie looks like its nothing more then 2 hours of bad cheap fan servicing to the first movie and just retells the same story that the first movie told already right along with Ghostbusters Video Game 2009 which is non longer canon (rolls eyes). The same villains an more. For that, I will just stick to the first two movies. It doesn't help that the OG Ghostbusters look like they will just be a glorified cameo in a movie they should have been headlining. I will be seeing this on stream. But the critics don't do themselves no justice as they loved the cheap fan servicing that the shitty Disney Stars Wars movies did. They gave good reviews for those movies yet those movies did almost the same thing that Ghostbusters Afterlife is doing. I guess Disney paid off those critics real well while Sony couldn't to help this movie. This movie will be better then the female ghostbusters movies in terms of trying to be tied to the original movie but it will not hold a candle to the original Ghostbusters movies in terms of quality storytelling along with being original. I am more excited to see Spider Man No Way Home at the movies then this movie yet I am a fan of Ghostbusters.

I knew from watching the trailers this wont be good. It's way too serious and has no resemblance to the fun, wacky, original 2 Ghostbusters.

Critics also liked the crappy ass reboot which was nothing more than just a remake of the first one, but not near as funny or even good. Critics have no room to talk about the new one like it’s crap. I’d rather have a movie that respects the fans and the material than a movie that tells the fans to “fuck off” and shits on the original source material.

This movie is doing the same thing by offering nothing new from what I am seeing. If they wanted to respected the franchise they could have offered something new and original like first Ghostbusters movie did which made it great. This movie is going to end up making me watch the original two movie rather then making me it see. So many red flags for this movie it isn't funny. It doesn't help that the writer to this movie is the guy that wrote the script for the remake of Poltergeist and a bunch of movies that were mediocre. Yeah I am seeing this on stream when someone uploads.

It doesn't help that the movie seems to have identify crisis too. One minute it wants to be a serious family drama (as if that was ever in Ghostbusters movie, comic book, cartoon or video game storyline rolls eyes), next minute tries to be a cute comedy and next stranger things 2.0. Last, remember its a Ghostbusters movie and tries to throw in dozens of call back to the first movie as if that makes a good movie or something. Worse, reduces the OG Ghostbusters to a cameo appearance. So many hardcore Ghostbusters fans complained about that over the reboot but this movie is doing the same thing by reducing them to cameos in this movie. It doesn't help that the writer to this movie is the guy that wrote the script for the remake of Poltergeist and a bunch of other mediocre movies. Yeah no. I am good. I will see this shit online for free. It sucks I am Ghostbusters fan but no way I am giving my money to a mediocre movie.

I could have wrote and made a better script. Hollywood's laziness is inspiring me to be a screen writer. I would have made Paul Rudd the fifth Ghostbusters from the Ghostbusters Video Game 2009. The game would have been canon to a degree. I would have added in elements from cartoons and comic books so there would be tons of monsters to use for the movie. Tiamat the sister of Gozer would have been the main villain of the story and she was the Thanos for Ghostbusters in the IDW Ghostbusters comics. The OG Ghostbusters would have been a main force in the movie passing the torch the right way. Dana and Janine would have helped the guys in the battle against Tiamat. The Ghostbusters would have been fighting the paranormal since the second movie until 2014 where Egon died and all of the franchise shut down except for NYC Ghostbusters HQ due to it becoming a city landmark because of the Ghostbusters heroism.

Ive not seen and never will see Ghostbusters 2016, but at least that had a consistent tone and stuck with it. I cant believe they havent been able to make a decent Ghostbusters remake that even barely resembles the look and feel of the originals, its shocking given the resources the studio has. It shouldnt have been this difficult. Cast 4 adult comedic actors and make a damn comedy with a decent story and some practical mixed with CGI ghosts/effects.

"Yep. I could have wrote and made a better script. Hollywood's laziness is inspiring me to be a screen writer. I would have added in Kylie Griffin from the Extreme Ghostbusters who would have been Ray assistant and stood by him for years and the OG Ghostbusters. This shit inspires me to be a screen writer. I agree with you on the Ghostbusters 2016 movie as well. For all of its flaws and it many of them no debating that. At least it did have an consistent tone and tried to be original even if it went the wrong way. Worse, decided to alienate fans along with the media and such. But dead God this movie alienates fans as well because it offers nothing new and doesn't even try to be original. Its a reharsh of the same movie and uses the OG Ghostbusters props. Yeah no..just no.

Potential Spoilers
I just finished seeing the movie on stream. I won't say its great but it isn't bad either. As I said before I do the tone was all over the place. it appears to have a identity crisis most of the time and it doesn't know what it wants to be at times. As previously states, One minute it wants to be a serious family drama (as if that was ever in Ghostbusters movie, comic book, cartoon or video game storyline rolls eyes), next minute tries to be a cute comedy but the jokes are barely funny I didn't laugh at any of them, next goonies and also stranger things 2.0. Last, the movie later remembers its a Ghostbusters movie and tries to throw in dozens of call back to the first movie as if that makes a good movie or something. And yes, it does in fact reduces the OG Ghostbusters to a cameo appearance which isn't surprising because trailers gave that all away prior before actually seeing this movie. So many hardcore Ghostbusters fans complained about that over the reboot but seem to be okay with this for this movie. Go figure. This movie heavily depends on retelling the first movie so I will tell anyone that will see this movie to not expect much originality or a expect a new villain which disappoints me. Ghostbusters has tons of villains that are interesting to use thanks to outside material such as the cartoons and the comic books. Writers could have used them which could have made outside source uniquely canon. All and all, your almost watching the first movie over again if you see this movie. For some that is a good thing but for others it won't. For me it was disappointing to see so much fan servicing to first movie and nothing new or original. I like originality as that is what makes movies great and tv shows. I don't mind fan servicing if its done right and isn't used so heavily. Cobra Kai is the perfect example how to balance fan servicing and being original. I give this movie a 3 out 5. Is it better then the terrifying Female Ghostbusters movie that so many hardcore Ghostbusters fans dislike so much? Yes it is. But it doesn't hold a candle to the original first two Ghostbusters movies let alone the Ghostbusters Video Game 2009 which was once canon, Ghostbusters cartoons and comics book which were more in spirit with the Ghostbusters lore and have a much more solid consistent tone to it then this movie. Hopefully the sequels will be better then this and it doesn't play it safe so much. That is of course if this movie gets a sequel.
