Well, he'd just suffered a physical shock after an extended period of psychological trauma, so he was obviously suffering from stress and didn't know what he was saying or doing. Hmmm. You may have a point.

I posted "The Face of Evil" trailer because: As stated, the explanation is never given in the TV serial, but in the novel written by Terrance Dicks instead. However, the explanation you provided is incorrect. His first encounter with the survey team and Xoanon did occur during the events of ROBOT, but it was late one night when the urge finally became too great and he slipped away in the TARDIS and travelled to another time and another planet, where he encountered the survey team and helped them out with their computer problem. He returned to UNIT Headquarters within minutes of his departure, so no one ever knew anything about it.
The explanation is given on pages 79 and 80 of the novelization.

I've had the novel since the early 1980s.

Baker is the best, But my favorite is Pertwee. Jon Pertwee was also my mum's favourite Doctor.
She liked his dashing charm, debonair personality and stylish appearance.

Baker is the best, But my favorite is Pertwee. I assume you're referring to Tom, rather than Colin Baker. Doctors 3 and 4 are my two favorites as well. One thing that they both had in common was the ability to walk into almost any situation and take charge, an air of authority if you will.
