I never saw a full episode but I have seen parodies, which makes it feel strangely familiar.
Do you know if they use the music of Big Star for the show (of which there isn't that much)?
Do you enjoy this tv comedy show?
Thanks!

I really enjoyed it when it was on the air, but I was a teenager at the time. The cast has talent but I think it’s kind of a juvenile show in retrospect. I have never enjoyed it (or watched it much at all) as an adult.

I watch it almost every day as the show I wind down to at bed time. That and Everybody Loves Raymond. The first 3 seasons, I should say, which are the best imo. Seasons 4 and 5 are okay but it goes downhill after that.

I was a big fan when I was a kid and it was on air. The last couple seasons aren't as good, especially the final one where they replaced Topher Grace and Ashton Kutcher with Seth Meyers' brother.

I didn't like it at first, grew to love it. I grew up in the 70's so I could identify. I partook in a few "circles", but never in someone's basement. The last season was a damned disaster. Loved Kelso. "I have the three things women can't resist. I'm good looking. And I'm smart". Other great Kelso moments
"I never touched her"
"Oral test" (that would have been me, 100%)
"Ow, my eye!"

I spent my teen years getting high with the gang on occasion. Though I only watched the show in full a few years ago on Netflix. Definitely interested to catch up with the crew in the sequel series. "Thirteen" is played a few times in the series, but I can't think of any other time a Big Star song was used.

I watched it when it was on (I was in middle school when they were in high school). Enjoyed it! Watched it beginning to end during lockdown and still liked it.

Oh boy, that last season was garbage. Seen a lot of shows "jump the shark" but that was bad. It was hampered by both Ashton Kutcher and Topher Grace quitting. They had a replacement for Eric, his cousin. but the actor quit at the last minute. Josh Meyers was awful and his character had no character. I think they had written out Randy before he season ended. And there was the horrible decision to have Fez and Jackie hook up. Cheapened her character by hooking up with three of the four male leads. At least they had the sense not to go for a 9th season.

Thanks for the information. I think I've seen clips, or maybe trailers, with 'Thirteen' playing. Also, 'In The Street'.

I watched it sporadically and enjoyed those episodes. My kid watched it all the way through, twice.

Its a good show overall, but it did in my opinion last 2-3 seasons to long.

Mostly fun, with the first couple of seasons being especially clever and inventive. I actually didn't like it on first run, but got into it in syndication and now find it far better than I gave it credit for originally. I'll agree it starts to take on water in the last season, but still manages enough poignant moments to be worthwhile--especially Donna's abrupt breakoff with Randy (I never warmed up to his character, but I don't think he was as unbearable as some found him). The couple of times they played 'Thirteen', I admit it made me cry a little .

It's one of the band's more emotional songs. Leads to a gut punch, lyrically. I find it poignant.

I didn't think I'd get the show - only because there would be quite a few jokes from the time era, which I wouldn't get. On a Saturday afternoon, one of the local stations aired back-to-back-to-back-to-back episodes. I caught the last 2 episodes, and laughed quite a bit! In fact, that night, I went out Christmas shopping. I was going to look for the season DVD sets of the show. At the time, seasons of TV shows on DVD were a new thing. Sadly, I didn't see any. I haven't seen any of "That 90s Show", (I'm not on Netflix) but I hear it is good. They also did do a spin off, titled "That 80s Show". Let's just say - the less said about that....the better. Joker's Wilde

It's been a long time since I watched it as a Teen. I enjoyed it at the time. But as others said the last batch was awful. I also could barely get through one episode of "That 90's Show"...
For me the Adult characters were just as good as the kids on the show. I was sad when Lisa Robin Kelly died. I know it's cliché but she had a tragic life. The new Laurie had nothing on her.

So is this show still watchable given Masterson’s scumbaggery?

And, yes, I'll still watch the show--Masterson was an actor portraying a fictional character and I see no reason not to be able to separate that from whatever he was doing in his offscreen personal life.

Mila Kunis Ashton Kutcher Debra Jo Rupp Kurtwood Smith These four wrote letters to the judge to show what a great guy Masterson is and I guess tried to get him off or a lighter sentence.
