6.5/10.
It's certainly not Jaws, but I found it entertaining.

JAWS 2 was the first Jaws I saw at the cinema. I enjoyed it then and still do. I think it also has a better John Williams score than the first. If there is drawback, I think the film is about 8-10mins too long. It could have done with some tighter editing in the first part, as I think some scenes are superfluous and go on too long. It dates the film and would have made it a more snappier sequel. It was well made, just didn't quite live up to the expectations of Spielberg's classic. I think I would agree with you, Toasted Cheese. Of course, a classic's a classic, but when Williams does a little branching out from the main theme, it is very pleasant to the ear. I would give the film a 7.25 on merit alone, or close enough, but my affection for the film would bump my rating up to a '9'. Best Death: Eddie goes white water rafting!!!

7/10 Not nearly the magic of the first film but one of the better sequels in any franchise (not counting Godfarther II or The Empire Strikes Back).

It's a decent enough movie, not great, not bad. Had to laugh at the little dig at Orca in there. The electrical cable ending was kind of goofy, but really not more so than exploding air tanks.

4/10. It's something of a guilty pleasure but as filmmaking it isn't very good. Too much time spent with the whiny teenage actors - and how the hell would Mayor Vaughn still be in power?

Vaughn had more than one kid ("my kids were on that beach too!"). But his kids were blonde so I don't know where Larry Jr came from. First marriage?
The film still has some great moments. The cast is good.
In fact, Scheider is very different from the first film. He's more of the street-wise attitude that he shows in other films.

Pretty enjoyable. And the drop from Jaws to Jaws II isn't as noticeable as the drop from Jaws II to what came after.
