More of an autopsy than an anniversary although this movie has already been autopsied enough over the years. Even director Joel Schumacher has apologized more than once for it. Strangely, it's still a watchable film (but only if you watch with the right mind set), with even a good quality or two (Uma Thurman for example), even though it makes a complete mockery of everything Batman is supposed to be. At least it helped give us "Batman Begins" eight years later. Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review: Batman & Robin (1997) - 2.5 out of 4 stars"Batman #4 spotlights two colorful villains, Schwarzenegger's lusty Mr. Freeze and Thurman's deliciously nasty Poison Ivy, who (for different reasons) want to destroy Gotham City, but even their antics can't sustain an overlong, episodic film in which the "story" often makes no sense. Clooney is OK but unremarkable as Bruce Wayne/Batman, ditto for Silverstone as the new Batgirl. The action and effects are loud, gargantuan, and ultimately numbing. End of this Batman cycle; followed in 2005 by BATMAN BEGINS."

Who would win in a battle of the movie Batmans?: Maybe we'll find out in the Flash movie.

This review sounds more suitable for a lower rating yet it’s higher than Batman Returns, which is far superior to Batman&Robin. Dafuq, Maltin?

Now that we know that this isn’t the end all Be all of Batman on film, it can be enjoyed as a colorful comedy. Arnold Schwarzenegger is genuinely good and memorable as well. Hell, I wouldn’t even call this one of the worst superhero movies. I’d take it over some recent crap like Wonder Woman 84, Josstice League, Suicide Squad, Captain Marvel, Ant Man 2, and more

Leonard Maltin himself did not write all of those reviews. He had a whole team of reviewers writing them (one of them was a college professor of mine). So it's pretty understandable that a lot of them would be inconsistent with each other since there were like ten people writing all of them.

This was one of those the grass isn't always greener bucket list letdowns.
Arnold in a Batman movie?! Why didn't we ever try that!
My hot take: it wasn't even Arnold's fault. Clooney was playing himself, again, & this Batman felt like a Halloween costume.

One of the earliest movies to feature George Clooney's patented "head bobble".

I remember seeing it in the cinema and being bored. Probably one of my least favourite cinema experiences. Uma Thurman and Arnie helped.

Well there is a handful of good things about the movie such as this: Joel Schumacher was a director on that music video. Comparing his work here with his work on the movie and it's surprising both are from the same director.

Ah yes. Batman and Robin. The Batman movie that's about as much fun as a colonoscopy. It was clearly inspired by the 60s TV show, but whereas that show was daft fun Schumacher's movie was just plain daft. George Clooney is the worst Batman ever. And Arnie...what happened, man?
