A great prequel to the Psycho franchise. It's not a prequel to Psycho.

Just started watching this - it's "off the charts" stupid. But I might survive the first season. You need to get past that lol I quit watching mid way through Season 1. But I binged watched a few weeks ago and I LOVE IT! Its a fascinating series. A great prequel to the Psycho franchise. It is not a prequel to Psycho.

Just watched the first episode. How much time has passed?! Must be a while since Dylan and Emma have a baby!

This show is excellent. Freddie Highmore deserves all the awards for his portrayal of Norman Bates. He channels Vera Farmiga's portrayal of Norma so exquisitely, down to her voice inflection and mannerisms. The fact he's been over-looked for an Emmy nod brings the credibility of the award into question AFAIC.
I'm sad he wants to quit acting. I read that after Bates Motel he wants to be linguist.

Interesting twist, having Norman off Loomis instead of Marion . I do wish he'd been dressed as Mother though.

That was the point. In this version of the story, Norman realizes his delusion and begins killing as himself. It wasn't "Mother" who killed Sam . It was Norman.

I do love that this a retelling as opposed to a prequel or remake, so I can get on board for that. I think it ups the creep factor when he's dressed like Mother, tho.

It really reminds me of how Hannibal (the TV series) used it's source material. So far, I'm on board. I'm dying to see how it all turns out....

If season 4 is roughly a year later, and season 5 is another two years after that, he would be at least 21. This wiki lists Norman's year of birth as 1995, and his age as 22, but I'm not sure where they get that from.... Norman Bates

I thought you meant the first episode of the season. The article that I had read said it was roughly 2 years between last seasons finale and the first episode of the season. This page says that he is 22.

It isn't like people getting served underage at the bar is totally unheard of. I am also betting that he went to the bar dressed as Norma, believing he was Norma, with Norma's ID. The bar tender gave him a wink and a nod and poured him a drink. I love your avatar BTW.

No. Norman is old enough. I believe he was also drinking wine in the restaurant for the double date.

Just watched Norman call 911 and turn himself in for the murder . I wonder if this will end with Norman getting the help he needs or end with him sitting in a mental institution grinning creepily .

A great prequel to the Psycho franchise. It's not a prequel to Psycho. Hmm I always assumed it was, well up until Season 5 when it changed.
