I finally got the original "Salem's Lot" on a Stephen King DVD set... I'll probably watch it again around October. While I didn't hate the 2004 TV version... The original was so much better. The Vampires were too goofy in the 2004 movie. But Donald Sutherland was good. I'm wondering how this will differ from both of the prior versions. And what happened to "The Tommykbockers" remake? Is it in development hell? Good question. Wasn’t James Wan supposed to direct that? I believe he was just producing that one. I don't think they announced a director, and at this point it doesn't seem like they will any time soon. And considering the source, maybe that's for the best.

That’ll give them a month to market the movie. Also the Tie In novel for Salem’s Lot is coming out in August. When it comes with NOPE I’ll come back here.

I could see Barbarian and, since I'd never heard of it, Dark Harvest getting a limited theatrical window and quick streaming turnaround.

I hope it's good, and I like David Slade, but with Amazon buying MGM it could mean that some of their movies hit streaming sooner than later. But I'll be happy if there's another major and good Halloween-set horror movie.

9 MONTHS??? JFC I thought the movie was practically done? Perhaps. It might just be that the movie isn't good. Although why they would push it back that far is strange.

Without much of any information to go on with regard to the delay it's not unreasonable to guess that it's not good and there are problems, but that they think it can be salvaged and that they may be planning extensive resorts. Or it could be that they simply didn't like that release date and the next one they saw that didn't have a major conflict is in April. Or it could be something in between. I'm sure we'll be hearing more about it sometime soon.

Ah here we go. It's been delayed. Oh no. That’s pretty worrisome: Why would you release a horror movie—especially a horror movie set in late summer/early autumn—in April instead of the month before Halloween? And I was looking forward to a Salem’s Lot movie, too.

Or it could be that they cut a good trailer from an otherwise bad movie, which would obviously not be the first time that happened. Or, again, it's possible that there aren't any major problems and they just need more time and April was the next reasonable release window. But, none of this really sounds good.

Also I don’t think this has been a great year for Warner. Most of their super hero movies had to be pushed back, 2 of the main actors for their DC movies have been through a lot of controversy and the only movies they really had hits with were Batman and Elvis. I mean Super Pets and Black Adam could do ok, but neither look all that great. I’ll be very surprised if Super Pets gets a positive reception. Black Adam to me just looks like another Dwayne Johnson movie.
Warner at this point needs a complete overhaul. Salem’s Lot even if it were bad could have gotten people ready for the Halloween movies of the year, but nah.

Black Adam to me just looks like another Dwayne Johnson movie. Warner at this point needs a complete overhaul. Salem’s Lot even if it were bad could have gotten people ready for the Halloween movies of the year, but nah. You're right about the DC stuff for sure. The Aquaman and Flash actor controversies put them in a terrible spot. I think particularly with Flash because it's the title role, and that was supposed to set up a lot of what they were gonna do in the future, plus the whole splash of having both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck involved was gonna be a big deal and all that. On the other hand, their real biggest concern as a company has been their biggest success, and that's been the growth of the HBOmax subscriber base. As Netflix has lost subscribers Warner's has seen steady growth and that's been a huge win for them. While they've had a tough go at the box office, they've also had a huge win in streaming... which will likely continue into at least the near future with their acquisition of Discovery and, by extension, the Discovery plus app. How any of that factors into these kinds of decisions would be tough to say without inside info, but I know they scored big with stuff like Malignant being a direct-to-streaming release. Obviously they'd like it for their high profile horror movies to make money in theaters and also drive people to the app, but if everybody watches it on streaming they're happy about that anyway. I also think Super Pets will be a success. Whether or not it's any good, a lot of kids are gonna want to see that. I know my 5 year old nephew is excited for it.

One article said the delay was due to covid related issues
