If 'Classic Film Board' is not trademarked in any way, shape or form, I don't see why it can't be kept. It's a pretty generic description of a message board. Hello, Mike ! Good to see you here ! -Gubbs Hi Gubbio!! Good to see you too, glad that we can still connect!!

I'd be tempted to keep it at present - Imdb would look pretty small if they took legal action against a group of film buffs they made homeless !!!!!.... and there are occasional posters who might log on after 20th who will find this site easy to find

Thanks for making this site. I think it'll be easier to decide after the 20th when this becomes the only alternative to the old boards for everybody.

i think it should reflect imdb somehow - as that will help the seo and new members
i would keep imdb in the name
and a paid hosing - we can all throw a few bit coins in. that can be set up no problem.

I think "IMD forums" is the closest we can get to "IMDB" without painting ourselves into a corner (i.e lawsuit).

theres a message board I belong to I haven't been on there in awhile not even sure if they are still around but they use to (when a topic like this came up they would hold contests with users to help them decide on if something needed to go/change etc)

I definitely think a name change is in order but it needs to be something unique and easily pronounceable. I also think that any attempt to acknowledge IMDb in the name would lead to problems in the future (not just legal, but some people would be put off by the blatant attempt to achieve success by standing on the shoulders of others). Yes, there are other sites that allow discussion of movies and TV shows, but their success will depend on how well they are run. People will migrate to the best sites - survival of the fittest.
I propose the name MaTForD (or Matford) for Movie and Television Forum Discussion. No real reason to include the word "Internet" (it's obvious the site is on the internet) nor the term "Database" (all forums are databases).
I look forward to the time when a poll is created to vote on the new name.

Matford sounds like a british sci-fi gadget.

Voting YES because I'm concerned that Amazon/IMDB might go after the creator for copyright infringement or unauthorized use of proprietary design.

On the one hand it's a copyrighted name on the other hand is Amazon going to consider a freeforum as a threat to their copyright? Free things come and go on the internet, Amazon may feel it's not worth their time.

This website appears to be taking off amazingly well, and I take my hat off to everyone involved. Great job at rising to the challenge set before us! I personally don't think any name that resembles IMDb is a good idea, due to potentially liability. I also see that someone with killer software is recreating this site on Internet Media Discussion Forums, but that seems a little obscure to me. I want to discuss movies and TV shows, and they're not necessarily always on the internet. There is an AVForums.com already in existence, which is actually the best hypernym, but I'm not sure everyone knows AV stands for audio-visual, or that audio-visual refers to media. Names are important. Remember “thefacebook”? Took off when he dropped the “the.” Before I knew of this website, I threw together this one, and registered the domain name: Movie & TV ForumsI'm not saying my name is the best, but think the name has to be given considerable thought. I like to keep things simple: I just want to discuss movie and TV shows. If you want to use my domain name, we could do a redirect. Right now, the hosting is free because I'm piggybacking off of another website I designed, Cool Place Database, but if traffic grows that would have to be changed. Obviously, there is better software out there than I'm using, but I wouldn't mind working on the design. If there's anything I can do to help, just let me know.

My suggestion
EMB
Entertainment Message Boards
Kind of all encompassing, as IMDB became a place where not just movies were discussed

Obscure site??!?
I first approuched this forum administrator and asked him if we could work together to make a forum with good software and powerful servers. The admin gladly agreed, I started making the forum but now the admin wants to keep this forum.
I told them I agree to that too, everyone is entitled to go where they want.
I slept very few hours, I worked all day on the imdforums and I am sad that you think it's an obscure site.
I wouldn't had started it if the admin of this site didn't considered that it was a good idea, I never start a project to collide with somebody else and I could of just start it without contacting him, but I did.
I respect the choices of everyone and I respect the admin desire to keep this forum, I am good anyway, but I'm so sad that all the time I took to built it is torn apart by people saying the most weird stuff about me.
It would be nice if the admin come here and corroborate that I in fact contacted him before starting the forum and that I wanted his help, I even made him admin there, he didn't do the same with me here, nor should he and still I'm more than fine.

Keep it IMDb2 for now. Its all in the name. The attraction is in the name. If you change the name then people wont be attracted towards it
