Scream 3.
That movie was just so...tepid. Tepid and contrived. Not remotely scary and devoid of humour, it proved a complete waste of time IMO.

3 was the worst, but I wouldn’t say it sucked. It at least had some expansion on the lore of the series and I’ll admit Ronan is a pretty badass antagonist. Too bad the movie felt smarter than it was, and tried the movie-within-a-movie technique. This. I wouldn't say 'Scream 3' was a horrible movie either and I enjoyed parts of it but I feel it is the weakest movie in the franchise.

Scream 4. For all its faults, Scream 3 at least gave the series a somewhat respectable conclusion. Scream 4 just has no reason for existing and is so far up its ass thinking it's being clever that it borders on unwatchable. BRAVO!

The slasher genre changed, and where 2 was commenting on sequels and 3 trilogies, 4 was commenting on modern slashers and remakes. That's its reason for existing. It is a pretty smug movie, though.

I mean from a storytelling perspective, it has no reason to exist. The story had already been told and there was nothing being done with the main three that I felt justified continuing with a fourth film. And the less said about the new characters, the better.

I think it added to Sidney's arc. She's made peace with everything and no longer a victim. Dewey and Gale have kind of been running in place since the second one. I'm with you on the new characters, though 3's weren't a lot better.
