Dan White. The guy in 1978 who killed Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk in San Francisco. He climbed through a window to avoid metal detectors and shot both. He argued that his Junk Food addiction wrecked his mind (The "Twinkie Defense"). Not convicted of murder (gobs of premeditation) but manslaughter. Sentenced to seven years. out in five. He did kill himself later.
Ted Bundy was convicted of killing three women but probably butchered 30-60.

Gabe Watson. Brought his new wife across the world to drown her at a shipwreck in the Great Barrier Reef. Made conflicting statements about how experienced he was with scuba diving, and the data on his dive computer didn't match with any of the movements he claimed to have made during the dive. Prior to their marriage he had sought to increase her life insurance and make himself the sole beneficiary. He was later caught on camera removing and disposing of flowers and gifts left by her parents from her grave. Eventually extradited back to Australia and jailed for the manslaughter of his wife, serving just 12 months. When he returned to the US, his case was dismissed due to lack of evidence. This whole case was handled badly by pretty much both justice systems in the US and in Queensland, if you ask me. I remember it well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Tina_WatsonEven if he didn't kill her, he still abandoned her when she was in trouble. The wreck of the Yongala is at a relatively shallow depth for diving, and if he was as experienced at diving as he claimed, he would've been able to get her to the surface pretty easily.
