These days, more and more parents are more okay with the R Rated stuff than the mere idea of homosexuals. Says a lot.
The 2011 Conan movie tried that, being more authentic to the original Conan stories than the Arnold movie was, still didn't work. Because that stuff just doesn't have an impact anymore. John Carter was doomed all along.
The GB Fans were epic in their misogyny and cruelty. Frankly, I think they deserved that backlash. Good, so we agree it wasn't the total bomb the Fandom Menace kept saying it was.
Lightyear, despite the bad press it had going in, still made over its budget.
If Strange World really was the "Degenerate, disgusting, amoral" movie it was accused of being, it would have no clicks at all.
Demon Slayer was the title that Comicsgate kept championing, despite it being a lie. That twitter link states the overall idea that Manga sells more was false to start with.
I dislike the Fandom Menace, they're a disease. Now you're getting the picture of what they're like, especially seeing how they threw the first punch in this overall "Fan War".
He didn't, if he did then he wouldn't have made such a boneheaded video based on nothing. It's a fake video he made after.
formersamhmd ... The 2011 Conan the Barbarian reboot failed because the marketing for the movie was very poor and the movie itself just wasn't very good, either. Conan as a character still resonates with consumers, hence the popularity of the recent comic book runs (Marvel had so much success they put out two different kinds of titles and complimentary titles as well as made Conan part of the Savage Avengers line-up). I didn't say that the 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters was a total bomb, I said it lost the studio money and wasn't a smash hit. Consumers generally didn't take a liking towards it; hence it didn't perform better and there is no sequel being made. I will also take the time to say that the misogyny and cruelty of people on the internet in reaction to the product was blown out of proportion by the trades to try and paint all opposition as bad people, going back to what was described as "fan baiting". Lightyear barely made over its budget, and still bombed. If that is your argument with Strange World, fair enough, but the point I was getting at is that its streaming numbers were not great. I didn't bring up Comicsgate whatsoever when I made the claim that manga was outselling American made comic book titles, and I didn't try to make it appear that that was the general case in the marketplace, either. Any evidence you have shown to back up your claim of manga never outselling an American made comic book highlights one specific manga (Demon Slayer) and the authors do not deny that some manga have done good numbers in sales. Once again, your attempt at justification are not making you look like the good guy in this scenario at all, because you have acted like a jerk and a bully. Honest or not, your display of character is not good. He did see the series, gave his opinion, and the video, which is not a fake (good luck trying to prove that it is all smoke and mirrors) was announced before he even have his thoughts on the Ms. Marvel program. The movie was more in line with the classic comics and short stories, but that didn't work in its favor because those types of stories don't appeal to the general audience the way a niche comic would. And his modern series never lasted too long either.
Decent consumers did, that's why all the doomsday predictions didn't come to pass and what angered the detractors.
It happened, it wasn't made up, and those who didn't speak up against how vile the "fans" were acting were enablers which makes them part of the problem.
Because it didn't do better at tying into Toy Story, that's why there was controversy over Tim Allen not voicing Buzz here. It was a turn off. It wasn't due to the content of the movie.
It's not the absolute zero it would be if it were actually "Degenerate and amoral".
The entire argument that Manga outsells comics was started by Comicsgate, so anyone who says so is falling for their ruse. Good sales doesn't mean "outselling comics".
I'm playing by Grifter rules. Now you know how they make decent people feel with every statement and video they make.
He didn't, he made a foolish arrogant presumption based on the trailer. That's why he never made a real review video, because he's never really seen the show or interviewed anyone. He made a fake video but that's all it is.

formersamhmd... Sword and sorcery was very popular (it still is) in 2011 with the success of HBO's Game of Thrones (Of which Jason Momoa was cast based on) and The Hobbit was already one of the most anticipated releases of the following year. The movie bombed in theatres because of a very poor marketing campaign strategy and not being a very good movie, either. This was the teaser released for the film, With advertisement such as this, it was clear this film was going to be anything but a blockbuster success. The "decent consumers" were not enough to reward the film (2016's Ghostbusters) better profit and warrant more installments. I did not claim that sexist and cruel comments were not created, I was saying that the media exaggerated it to a high degree to where the studio could use that card to make supporting the movie more important than it already was (that didn't work out though). You said Lightyear had a "respectable" box office, and it really, really, didn't. We can argue about why it didn't till the first sight of the Sun in the morning hours, but one thing that should be agreed upon is that it definitely did not have a "respectable" box office. The argument of manga outselling American comic books has been going on for years before the creation of the Comicsgate movement. I certainly took notice of the popularity of it whenever I went to a comic book store, a traditional book store, and in school as I saw consumers pick up copies of manga and taking them all around the school to read. You have been acting like a cynical and ego driven bully, which was completely unnecessary from the start. You will not gain an ounce of my respect and make me share your worldview. He gave his opinions on what episodes he had seen and interviewed directors from it for real. I am not debating this part of the conversation any further.

Game of Thrones and the Hobbit have little to nothing to do with the Sword and Sandal genre that Conan is, they aren't relevant in comparison. Conan flopped because that style no longer appeals to people.
It still wasn't the massive Studio killing bomb the GB "Fans" kept saying it would be and hoped it would be. They did get mad that they couldn't get away with their terrible behavior though.
Lightyear didn't make Toy Story money, no. It distanced itself too much from Toy Story for that, it wasn't the same kind of studio killer bomb either though.
Kids bought and read Manga, it wasn't until the Comicsgate stuff began around 2015 or so that this argument that Modern comics were all terrible and had to be destroyed so Manga could take over began. Because it's a false narrative created by angry Comicsgaters.
This is the attitude that Grifters give off. Now you understand what it's like for me to have to deal with them. All the worthless reactionaries who can't accept the world moved on.
He didn't watch them himself and interviewed no one. You fell for fakeness.

formersamhmd ... At this point in the conversation, and with the other, I think you have proven to everyone who has engaged with you and has observed it that since your initial ban a few years ago you have become a very obsessive, ego-driven individual with a cynical outlook and a very flawed view on what qualifies as being logical. Every talking point is a rinse-and-repeat of the last, and no real progression has come from it, other than your attempts to save face and rewrite narratives. I used to really respect you, but now that is all gone. Please know that if you display such form in conversation on Knowhere, you may no longer be welcome.
