I can’t say I blame the kid. Marvel really tested the fandom with some of their 2022 offerings. But Archie leaving the MCU is like Jesus becoming an atheist! He’d have been better off 😉 Ain’t that the truth!

It’s on the Wakanda Forever page on SAKAAR. He immediately left the fandom after he saw the movie. Says he’s not invested anymore or something. He still won’t say a bad word about the franchise though. Gave the whole “it’s not them, it’s me” line. I think that’s a fair interpretation that I’ll offer some clarification for. I go through phases of interests. For instance I don’t follow the NFL anymore and I used to with the same sort of obsession I do with the MCU. I could name linemen. But I didn’t stop watching because of anything they did wrong, I’d just watched entire player’s careers and I felt like I seen everything there was to see. And that may be the case now with the MCU. I’m not sure yet, but it feels like I may have had my fill. Perhaps that spark of interest is recoverable and my seeming apathy is a result of things that have been said about the lack of a clear direction etc, so we’ll see. I’ve still got an eye on it. But to be fair, I never thought it’d be the obsessive fan forever 😉. They are the greatest cinematic achievement of all time, I still casually enjoy their new offering, and I’ll always be in love with the Infinity Saga Fair enough. It’s just still so shocking to see you abdicate your throne as #1 MCU fan! But you know it’s perfectly okay to put some blame on the current state of Marvel. My fandom was absolutely tested by Ms Marvel and She Hulk. And Wakanda Forever just didn’t do it for me without Boseman/TChalla. It’s one of the few MCU movies I will never watch again. If I may, I really think voicing some healthy criticism once in a while would help you maintain your fandom. Just get it out of your system. Go into an empty closet and scream “SHE HULK SUUUUUUCCCCCKKKS!”

ArArArchStanton I do appreciate your NFL explanation though. I’m absolutely the same way with sports now. I was a HUGE MLB and NBA fan growing up. And just as you say, I feel like I’ve literally seen everything. I still watch casually and out of nostalgia, but I really can’t understand how people can watch so many games every year and remain super fans for their entire lives without getting burned out. Two generations of great players was enough. Now it’s like an endless repeat.

Phase 4 was always going to be a test period I felt. Now I’ve often said the multiverse stuff was going to be problematic but that’s what so many seem to like so that’s apparently just a preference. Yeah so I can’t say they’re doing a bad job. I’m just in a combination of I’ve seen an incredible journey and I’m not currently on another.

Really thought they were leaving the Bruce Sakaar tease for a huge return to that planet for an epic story. Abomination is a chill guru now? Ok. Her boinking daredevil is fine. Her introduction was actually cool. Nothing else really happened.

What would you consider to be the best parts so far?

And Black Widow is as endlessly watchable as anything they’ve made for me, and Loki was exactly my kind of vibe.

The first episode is about the only relevant thing about it.

But I have no desire to ever see it again.

They shouldve grown some balls, recasted and not treated the actor like some martyr..

Also M'Baku couldve had a larger role Yeah, the actress who played Shuri did a decent job, but… it’s still Shuri. Nothing to do with gender, she’s just a boring character and looks silly as BP. Should’ve made MBaku or Nakia BP if they weren’t gonna recast.

Should’ve just not made the movie if they were gonna go that way.

I think they needed to recast however and I can envision that story playing out with surprisingly minimal changes with T’Challa in it. It’s a major hole they’ll never fill now and there was just no reason for it IMO. But, they did a good job with what they had. Everything Namor was awesome. A prequel original panther movie would have been better if they wanted to wait on the recast decision. Nakia would have been a better fit. IDK. Committing to this is just unfortunate.

I can’t bring myself to rewatch it. I usually buy MCU movies on blu ray day one. Not this time though.

Everything else is gravy for me. They accomplished their goal. There’s nothing left to prove which is why I’m happy as a more casual fan for now. If it gets epic again I’ll be back in force, don’t worry ;-)
