Well it appears we'll be losing him this week. Probably Thursday-Friday. He had a damn good run and at least made it 14 years.

Can barely jump anymore and whenever he tries to get down from a table or something he ends up crashing and burning instead. It also looks like it's really difficult from him to walk so he ends up doing it a lot less than normal.

Good luck.

We'll see how it goes, never had to do it before and I can just imagine the random emptiness for both myself and the other cat will be bizarre for the coming weeks.

If you have a good vet that you trust, my advice would be to listen to them, between the two of you, you can make a good judgement on whether it is time to let them go to prevent suffering... But, it will be you making the decision... if it comes to it, it will hurt like hell for a while, I won't kid you... But, you will have given him a great life, and done your best for him... even this, if it comes to it... Let us know how it goes buddy.

He passed away earlier today after probably the most active I've ever seen him. He wasn't exactly a very social, loud or fast cat but this was the first time he was in a car in 10 years so it was clear he wasn't comfortable with it. The other cat probably has no idea where he went so it'll take a while for him to notice that he ain't coming back. It wasn't easy to break up the dynamic duo because they've been with each other since the younger one was born which is 2 years before they were sent to this place. I have never seen a more perfect dynamic duo in real life before. One eats a lot, runs a lot, is very social and loud af, catches rats and birds all the time during the summer and runs where ever he needs to go - while the other one who just passed away was the exact opposite of that in every possible way. It's obviously tough, especially seeing him act completely out of character but it was definitely time and he managed to kick ass for 14 years.

Yeah, it will feel a bit weird for while... 14 is not a bad innings, and sounds like he was was loved... Thanks for sharing the photos... Take it easy buddy.

We have two cats, siblings, a boy and a girl. He's short haired, she's long haired. They are very large cats, and very, very sweet. We adopted them from our local no-kill shelter. We didn't want to separate them as they had been with each other since birth. Picture below.
The cat in my avatar was our darling sweet baby who died two years ago this month. I still miss her. Another sweet cat.

I currently have one 12 year old cat I rescued 6 months ago, nobody wanted her because of her age. She's so adorable, I'd love to post a photo but it's in my picture library and not attached to a URL. I wish more people would consider a senior pet when adopting as they have so much love to give. It's her birthday next week and I'm going to spoil her rotten, not sure how though as she already gets everything she wants and more, lol. We always adopt older cats. I would never adopt a kitten!
