No one bothered to mention it since this board is basically dead, but filming started last week and the title was changed to just Superman.I just browsed wiki and there's a whole bunch of new information I haven't heard about, like Nicholas Hoult playing Lex. I still think, if he bulked up, he could have been a good Clark/Superman. I assume that parallel is what they're going for here. There's a lot of stuff confirming my worst Gunn fears, like him digging up a bunch of random/unknown characters probably for the sake of his trademark "hey, werent old comics goofy and stupid?" gags. Though I am interested to see Fillion as Green Lantern.

That seems to be Twitter and Reddit’s favorite Lex, and Gunn is a very chronically online filmmaker, hence why Jason Momoa will most likely be playing Lobo in the DCU.

Frankly, I think Gunn probably would’ve tried to get Bryan Cranston if he were in charge of DC back in 2013/2014. Besides, Cranston last year did say that he thought the fan casts of him as Lex Luthor were uninspired.

I’m generally not into fan casting precisely because it tends to be very unimaginative and surface level. To be clear, I actually don’t mind Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. I’ll definitely take him over Bill Skarsgaard, who was rumored to be in the running for the role. I just assume that a Michael Rosenbaum vibe is what Gunn is going for.

I don't really get a Rosenbaum vibe from him, though that could be because he's played so many goofy (The Great, Renfield, The Menu) and generally impish (Fury Road, The Favourite) characters as of late that he's starting to get typecast in my mind. That's part of why I was thinking he could be a good Clark, if they were to tap into that old Reeve thing where he acts like a boob in front of Lois and co throw off the scent.
