Some of the X-Men films are great. Some aren't, but I tend to enjoy the Xmen as a whole.

Most of the X-MEN movies, the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN movies, and a couple other non-MCU-but-still-Marvel were great, while the MCU has had a couple good ones, a couple decent ones, and a bunch of OK and/or crappy ones.

I enjoyed about half of them, was indifferent to a couple of them, and disliked the rest. Didn’t bother with Dark Phoenix or The New Mutants. There’s stuff to criticize about the film series, but I never understood the rabid disdain for it in some circles.

The recent ones not so much. The older ones were entertaining, even X-Men 3 which for some reason is considered the worse.

Except for the Wolverine solo films. They’re MCU level crap. Logan is one of the best comic book movies ever made.

Except for the Wolverine solo films. They’re MCU level crap. Logan is one of the best comic book movies ever made. I saw it in the cinema and didn’t like it. It couldn’t help that it was a heavily bastardised version of a comicbook story (so much so as to be unrecognisable) because it didn’t have authorisation to use all of the Old Man Logan characters but I thought it was otherwise awful anyway. The plot stunk. The hybrid kitchen-sink drama/ formulaic superhero mash-up didn’t work for me. I like Mike Leigh films. I like superhero films. But you can’t just put the two together and think one elevates the other into something greater. In my opinion it was stupid, contrived and assumed a gravitas that it hadn’t earned. It felt like a film reaching to be great but failing miserably. But that’s just my opinion.

There’s stuff to criticize about the film series, but I never understood the rabid disdain for it in some circles. They're filled with bad acting and terrible writing. Every film features one or two solid performances, surrounded by total cringe. I've never understood the love for DOFP. It's every bit as stupid a script as Apocalypse. You were right to give up before Dark Phoenix, the franchise fittingly went out with a nonsensical whimper. The only one I enjoyed was First Class, and if we're including the solo adventures, Logan and the first Deadpool.

To me they were like the MCU, some were good, some were great and then some were worse.
As far as the X-Men movies went they were on the downhill trajectory after DOFP.
They had a good run but it's probably good it'll get a fresh start. The Fox movies had a certain time that it would have made it hard for certain storylines and characters to work.

Well,
The X-Men movies were brilliant and bleak superhero movies for adult people. They were essentially serious sci-fi.
I would say that 'THE WOLVERINE' (2013) was an adult version of a MCU movie.

The guy that dreamt up being related to a Disney streaming MCU show actor is talking about adult versions.

Nah, they were for people ashamed of comics made by people ashamed of comics. Low production value overall.

I am mostly positive on them. I don't think that the best of X-Men are as good as the best of the MCU, though.
Also, despite Wolverine being my favourite character, they do feel like they relied on him too much and didn't give enough room for other characters.

Pish, let's be honest here. At least half of the X-Men movies were crap.
That makes for a slightly better average than the DCEU but not by much, and it's certainly a far cry from what the MCU has achieved.
Even some of the worst MCU movies like Thor TDW and IM2 are masterpieces compared to X3 or New Mutants or Origins.
