Re-watched Blood Beach (1980). The film’s poster artwork along with the tagline sells it; ”Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... you can't get to it!". Nice. However the end result isn’t as striking. Simply an okay creature-feature that squanders it’s concept, possibly a little too dry and lackadaisical headed by charmless leads. Not enough of John Saxon as cranky police captain and Burt Young as a sarcastic detective. Most of the time they’re standing around clueless and bickering to what’s going on, but I actually enjoyed all their scenes. Can’t say the same for everything else, including some of the repetitive, if rib-tickling attack sequences. In the end it doesn’t add up to much with the decent looking monster design (when we finally see it) wasted for quite a lame, and unimpressive climax, but at least it had wicked closing shots. I always felt the poster is more impressive and you can easily imagine a much better film just by looking at it's premise, than what they actually delivered. Just makes you wonder what was sold first; the poster idea or script. At that time, I would think this would be right up John Sayles’ alley.

IMPO - This one never loses it's eerie feel
and the storyline never gets old just better with time .

The Orphanage 2007 ( El orfanato), Spanish horror directed by J.A. Bayona, with a Spanish cast plus Geraldine Chaplin. Atmospheric and creepy, with a satisfying conclusion.

Curse of the Mummy's Tomb---the sound of the mummy's breathing was actually a pretty neat idea. Kind of spooky.
Deep Rising-- Not so much a horror film as a comedy-adventure--but better than it is given credit for. The escape on jet skis was neat.
The Raven is amusing.
Dr. Craven: [to the raven] Are you some dark-winged messenger from beyond? Answer me, monster, tell me truly! Shall I ever hold again the radiant maiden whom the angels call Lenore?
The Raven: How the hell should I know?

Corman's "Tales of terror" yesterday... Probably "Pit and the Pendulum" soon.
Watching the end season of "Lore" and "Buzzfeed Unsolved" at the moment.

Reading through these intelligent posts prompted me to recommend this obscure gem from 1968. It got excellent reviews at the time and I was impressed when I saw it at the drive-in. Excellent cast with a manipulative Tuesday Weld acting rings around a befuddled Perkins, and Beverly Garland (It Conquered the World, The Alligator People) in a supporting role. Nice little film. Really like the shot of her flopping on the bed and laughing maniacally. Far better than the 90's made for TV remake.

'Darkness Falls' was an enjoyable movie and one of the most underrated Horror movies of the 00s in my opinion and there are a few great Horror movies like that one which come out around the same time that seemed to slide underneath the radar and didn't get much promotion and I am not sure why but many people are still discovering them for the first time now and are saying how much they liked them and the Horror genre is full of many hidden gems.

Eloise (2016), which was the name of an actual mental institution in Michigan that closed in the 80's. It's supposedly haunted, which is the case in this movie. It tried hard, but is not very scary, to me, at least. I liked it though.

Watching "The Bad Seed" remake right now. It's not bad for a straight to Lifetime movie. Good acting from the modern Rhoda character. (Named Emma here.)

Night of the Living Dead (1968) - 8/10
Finally saw this original classic. I wasn't too blown away by it, but the film is definitely solid and was very shocking for its time, as nothing like it had ever been done before. I watched the OG B&W version. There was also a coloured edition but I went with the former, since it's really the superior version. I agree about Barbara being a lousy character, and the ending being a complete shocker. What else is there to say?

"The Tingler" (1959)
Vincent Price is typically fun in this entertaining shocker featuring producer / director William Castles' most notorious gimmick, "Percepto". Vincents' LSD trip is hysterical, and the scene with the blood filling the bathtub is striking. The supporting cast is fine, if not on Vincents' level.

This past Friday evening I went to the Drive-In
and finally got to watch the movie I have been
waiting for literally months to see ( and it was just as great as I thought it would be also ) .
It definitely " filled in the blanks "
for the entire origin of this
continuous film saga storyline too .
Also before this long awaited film I discovered a " new to me film "
that I had surprisingly not heard of .
I found it to be very eerie as well as intriguing
and thought these 2 films as a double feature
were perfectly paired up as well .

Thanks for the heads up on this film sequel Father Jack . Deep Blue Sea is what it is. Jaws it ain't, cheese it is. But enjoyable cheese. The sequel however just sucks all round.

other films or even TV Movies trying to be this one .
Some are more like you said about this particular film here
" cheese it is - but enjoyable cheese " .
IMPO Too these similar yet more watchable type movies can
also be as much fun to view just like a parody film also .
Again thanks so much for your reply .
