I still kinda enjoyed it, but I think my expectations were different at the beginning. I thought i was going to see something like ‘Brainscan’ or ‘Stay Alive’, and it does play out like ‘Brainscan’ in the first half... but the latter half went away from that angle, and didn’t have me entirely gripped when we learn what was at play. Funny enough, I actually purchased the DeVour DVD from a video ezy store closing down sale last month. Love the first candyman and the following sequel is solid enough. However I can’t bring myself to watch Part 3. Fair enough. You bring up a good point about the second half of the movie. I am actually surprised it isn't more well known among 'Supernatural' fans 'cause it has Jensen Ackles in it and is a Horror movie and I remember a lot of fans talking about the remake of 'My Bloody Valentine' he was in and even 'Ten Inch Hero' but it seems rare when I come across anybody who knows what 'Devour' is and I believe it was made right before 'Supernatural' when he was in 'Smallville' but I didn't see it until a few years later when I found it on DVD in a Video Ezy store which is kinda funny since you bought it from one of them when they were closing down. As for 'Candyman' you are right about the third movie and apparently Tony Todd hated that movie too and said it was the worst one he made and the lead actress was attractive but I think that was the only thing the movie had going for it. Did you hear they are making a remake now? I was hoping we would get to see the 'Candy Man 4' movie Tony Todd had been talking about with Virginia Madsen returning as a ghost and Clive Barker returning to write the script but sadly whoever owns the rights wants to reboot. I am surprised they still have the rights and they haven't reverted back to Clive like the 'Nightbreed' rights have but maybe that is why they are making this movie.

You also had the likes of Shannyn Sossamon and Dominique Swan. It might have fallen through the cracks for Ackles’ fans, due to it being a straight-to-video/DVD release? I think I read something on this board couple months back of a Candyman remake. Doesn’t really stir up much of an interest for me though. Tony Todd is so iconic in the role. His booming voice, and towering presence is the Candyman for me. But in this day and age, it doesn’t surprise me it’s getting a remake especially within the context of this story. Curious about Clive Barker’s involvement, if any. Wonder if Blumhouse would get him involved with Hellraiser again, like they did with Carpenter for the latest Halloween film?

Vampires (1998) - 7/10
Still trying to get my Carpenters out of the way. This was streaming on Netflix so I gave it a go. It’s pretty entertaining. James Woods is the best part arguably.

The Silence which is streaming now on Netflix.
It's A Quiet Place (right down to a deaf daughter) meets Birdbox and not very good. The creatures are kind of laughable.

The Hidden (1987)
Seen it for about the millionth time, and I can never get enough of it. A slam-bang crackerjack of a movie and director Jack Sholder's finest hour. Everybody involved in the making of it was really firing on all cylinders.

Making my way through the "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" movies. They had been on the backburner for a few years. (I got to the point where I got burned out on them.)
The "Halloween" movies I also haven't watched in a few years. Just have seen them too many times.

That is a good one. I even liked the sequel with Jon Bon Jovi and as a longtime Bon Jovi fan it was funny watching Jon killing vampires and I was expecting him to burst out into song in some scenes but the third was very disappointing and I have heard there are plans to reboot the franchise and if it happens I hope they go back to basics.

I would love to see Clive Barker in control of the 'Hellraiser' franchise again and I don't know if you read it but there was a graphic novel continuation Clive Barker wrote to 'Hellraiser 3' that had Kirsty and a good Pinhead going around fighting the other Cenobites together and it had multiple other characters from the first three movies appear in it too. I have mentioned on here before I would love to see them make a 'Hellraiser 4' which ignores all the other sequels like the new 'Halloween' movie did and the first three movies continued directly onto each other and then they made 'Hellraiser: Bloodline' and went in a different direction and I think if they brought Ashley Laurence back as Kirsty and called it 'Hellraiser 4' it could work.

Yeah I heard about the sequels. Wasn’t sure if there was anything good to come out of them but that’s cool to hear that the lead singer of Bon Jovi is in the second one. I may give that one a try.

Gwai Wik aka Re-Cycle 2006, by The Pang Brothers Thai-Hong Kong Fantasy Horror Mystery "After writing three best-sellers about love story based on her own experiences, the successful writer Tsui Ting-Yin is without inspiration and having difficulties to write her new novel in the horror genre entitled "Re-cycle". While drafting the text, spooky events happen at her apartment and her former boy-friend of eight years ago visits her, after his divorce, proposing Tsui. When Tsui sees a supernatural long-haired character of her book, she follows him and is trapped in his world of terror". I'm not too familiar with these Asian horror movies, but I thought it was entertaining. As the story moves forward it shifts it's tone from pure horror to fantasy-mystery, but I won't tell you were.

Yeah. 2 is fairly entertaining in my opinion and is more similar to the first movie than the third which felt more like a different movie with the studios cashing in on the name of the previous movies to get fans to watch it. Some people are divided over 2 but it has its fans unlike the third and let me know what you think about it when you have a chance to watch it.

The Legend of Hell House 1973, directed by John Hough, based on a novel by Richard Matheson, staring Pamela Franklin, Roddy McDowell, Clive Revill, Gayle Hunnicut, Roland Culver, Peter Bowles and one more cameo. Physicist Lionel Barrett and his wife lead a team of mediums into the Belasco House, which is supposedly haunted by the victims of its late owner, a six-foot-five serial killer. Old-fashioned haunted house movie, that have some really good parts, some not so good parts, but as whole I was satisfied enough. I was also satisfied with the conclusion. Wykehurst Place that played the exteriors of Hell House is nowdays privatly owned.

I had no idea there was a graphic novel that continued from Hellraiser part 3. Was this one of the early ventures into the comics? I did read Clive Barker’s ‘The Scarlet Gospels’ a couple years back, which was part of the Hellraiser universe. Where Pinhead is killing off the last of Earth’s Magicians to enhance his powers to take over Hell. It was a decent time-waster. Would make an interesting sequel idea. As for another sequel, it’s possible they could go the Halloween 18 route, but I feel they’ll probably start over again.

Well, since it's prom season I thought it would be fitting to watch Carrie (1976). One of my favorite horror movies of all time and one of my favorite Brian De Palma films, masterfully done to perfection. As film historian Steven Scheuer noted, "The finale is pure Grand Guignol."

The Pyx (1973)
Canadian-made thriller filmed and set in Montreal, starring Karen Black and Christopher Plummer. Has a dreary and somber mood to it, but worth watching especially for the eerie black mass scene.
