Yeah. You did. I think 'Devour' being a straight to video/DVD release played a part in it not being as well known as the 'My Bloody Valentine' remake too and there have been a number of Horror movies I have enjoyed over the years that were straight to video/DVD releases that not many people knew about 'cause of that and I am surprised some of them don't get released in cinemas 'cause they are fairly good and are still getting new fans now with people discovering them for the first time. Tony Todd was iconic as Candyman and I think that is going to go down as his biggest and most popular role which is why it is disappointing they are not bringing Tony back for the new movie and I think they are going to struggle to find somebody to replace him. I would love to see Clive Barker in control of the 'Hellraiser' franchise again and I don't know if you read it but there was a graphic novel continuation Clive Barker wrote to 'Hellraiser 3' that had Kirsty and a good Pinhead going around fighting the other Cenobites together and it had multiple other characters from the first three movies appear in it too. I have mentioned on here before I would love to see them make a 'Hellraiser 4' which ignores all the other sequels like the new 'Halloween' movie did and the first three movies continued directly onto each other and then they made 'Hellraiser: Bloodline' and went in a different direction and I think if they brought Ashley Laurence back as Kirsty and called it 'Hellraiser 4' it could work.
I had no idea there was a graphic novel that continued from Hellraiser part 3. Was this one of the early ventures into the comics? I did read Clive Barker’s ‘The Scarlet Gospels’ a couple years back, which was part of the Hellraiser universe. Where Pinhead is killing off the last of Earth’s Magicians to enhance his powers to take over Hell. It was a decent time-waster. Would make an interesting sequel idea. As for another sequel, it’s possible they could go the Halloween 18 route, but I feel they’ll probably start over again. Yeah. There is an actual sequel to 'Hellraiser 3' written by Clive Barker and I can't remember what it is called at the moment which is annoying but the character has appeared in a number of the comic books and in the one I told you about she teamed up with Pinhead to take out all the other Cenobites and then in another she took Pinhead's spot and become the new Hell Priest. While the movies sadly didn't follow up her story outside of a small appearance in 'Hellseeker' the comic books have and there have been a few different stories about what happened to Kirsty after the events of the original trilogy and with 'Hellraiser' now officially confirmed to be coming back hopefully they bring Kirsty back too and put the focus back on the character. I think it is more likely the new movie is going to be another remake too but that also gives them the chance to bring Kirsty back with a new actress playing the character and they could use this to put the franchise back on track and have all the movies continuing on to each other again. I liked 'The Scarlet Gospels' and it is a shame Clive can't get back the rights to take over it again himself. The 'Candyman' thing makes the least sense 'cause it has been years since we had a 'Candyman' movie and I thought the rights for that would have expired and gone back to Clive.

Did you like this Deb? I have seen once and didn't hate on it. I thought it was enjoyable. It wasn't perfect and I was kinda disappointed Robert Englund wasn't in it more 'cause from the way they had his name on the movie I thought he was going to be the main star. There have been a few Horror movies I have seen where they have had Robert billed as the main star and he is hardly in them and it is misleading when they do that with actors and they have done that with some of my favourite actresses in movies too and their name was on the cover of the movie like they were one of the main stars and they only had a 5 minute role. I have watched '2001 Maniacs' again and liked it. On another note a recent Horror movie we watched was this one.

"Abattoir" Cool premise... It was interesting it was set in a Noirish environment. The ending is a little flat. Still enjoyed it.
"The Hole in the ground" Not a bad little Irish chiller... Mashup of a few ideas. Mainly the Sprite/Changeling myth.

Firestarter (1984)
This Stephen King adaptation wasn't well received when first released, and it's been said that King himself dislikes it. But I still think it's pretty good and holds up well. It's generally faithful to the novel, and the special effects and stuntwork are total eye-candy. Well directed by Mark L. Lester. Great cast, too!

Mausoleum (1983)
Striking lighting compositions, John Carl Buechler’s FX and Elsie the housemaid’s dialogue standout here.
“There’s some strange shit going on in this house”! “Great googily moogily” “No more grieving, I’m leaving”!

That killer elevator movie, The Lift (1983) "For God's sake...take the stairs! Hilarious dubbing and a cool early 80's synth soundtrack made for a fun viewing. Watched it on YouTube, for those who are interested.

I guess it is the selling point of a film that normally wouldn't hold any interest, if not for the name attached.
From Beyond is a goody. I haven't seen for yonks, but I do own it on blu disc, just haven't gotten around to watching it. Did you enjoy it deb?
Yeah. It is misleading for fans of the actors who see the movies to see their favourite actors and I often wonder why some movies have more popular actors in small cameo rolls instead of giving them the main star roles and it might have something to do with cost for all I know but I have seen a few Horror movies that had famous actors appear in them for a few minutes but the rest of the cast is full of lesser known actors and you wonder why they didn't use them for the lead instead. I was disappointed 'The Crow: Wicked Prayer' didn't use David Boreanaz as the main star especially since most articles I read about it made it sound like he was going to be the lead and I thought it would be fun to see Angel play the Crow but they used him as the villain. I like 'From Beyond' and we have watched that a few times and have it on DVD and it is written and directed by the same person behind the 'Re-Animator' and 'Honey I Shrunk the Kids' movies and has two actors from 'Re-Animator' in it and have you seen the 'Re-Animator movies Toasted Cheese and what do you think of those? I liked the franchise and wish we had got more than 3 movies.

That would be fun and it is probably unlikely as you mentioned but I would love to see Ashley Laurence return to the 'Hellraiser' franchise in some shape or form and it will be interesting to see who they get to play the new Kirsty and if this is going to be a direct remake of the first movie or the novel 'cause in 'The Hellbound Heart' Kirsty is a friend of Rory's who is in love with him and not his daughter and they might make the new remake more like the original novel. I am just hoping it is good and we got the focus back on Pinhead and the Cenobites and Kirsty again. If it is successful they might remake the second movie too or go in an entirely different direction. Depending on how the movie turns out I don't think there will only be one if it is a success and Jason Blumhouse has just confirmed he is working on a sequel to the new 'Halloween' after the success of that movie.

The House That Dripped Blood (1971) - A good Amicus horror anthology film in the same vein as Tales from the Crypt, From Beyond the Grave and Torture Garden. Starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Denholm Elliott and sexy Ingrid Pitt. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of classic British horror films. My rating: 8/10

I liked the franchise and wish we had got more than 3 movies. Have only seen the first Crow movie.
I like the first 2 Re-Animator films, though they are not amongst my favorite horrors of the 80's. I have always preferred From Beyond. I didn't find The Re-Animator lives up to much on a re-watch, after the first time I saw it, whereas I have always enjoyed FB on repeat viewings so much more. Must be the atmosphere and presentation of it that I like better.
Okay. Did you like the first movie 'cause if so I would suggest checking out 'City of Angels' and 'Salvation' one day. The sequels get a bad rep from some fans for not being as good as the first movie and they aren't but I really liked 'City of Angels'' and 'Salvation' and 'Salvation' had a great scene where he got inside a car with a corrupt police officer who was trying to rape a young girl and took the gun of him and put it in his mouth and blew his head off and the criminal was screaming while his head was growing back and then he drove the car at full speed into a wall and it blew up. I didn't like 'Wicked Prayer' or the TV Show and the problem with the TV Show was it was watered down a lot and The Crow could get injured easily and bullets hurt him. 'Wicked Prayer' was a big flop and killed the series and there were originally going to be 6 movies and the next one was going to be based on 'The Crow: Flesh & Blood' with Iris Shaw as the lead which would have been the first female Crow they had on screen. They were originally going to make a movie with a female character as 'The Crow' before 'Salvation' but the studios wouldn't allow them to and the script for that movie was taken and lightly changed and become 'Kill Bill' which become a big hit and if the studio hadn't turned it down for having a female lead at the time they could have had another big hit in the franchise.
Fair enough. I still enjoy both the 'Re-Animator' movies and 'From Beyond' and I wouldn't be surprised if they end up remaking them one day 'cause of all the other 80s Horror movies they have remade and now 'Re-Animator 4' isn't happening a remake seems likely but hopefully they aren't as bad as some other remakes they have made. I have enjoyed some remakes like 'The Ring', 'The Grudge', 'The Fly', 'The Amityville Horror', 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and 'Salem's Lot' to name a few but others have been horrible and I think the remake of 'April Fool's Day' was the worst and don't even know how it was classed as a remake. They might as well just called it a sequel since there were too many differences to really be a remake in my opinion.

Psycho II (1983)
I bet there were a lot of people who thought it could never be pulled off, but Psycho II turned out to be a very worthy sequel to Hitchcock's 1960 classic. Occasionally tongue-in-cheek, sometimes an homage, but always an engrossing whodunit with some clever twists and turns. Keeps you guessing right to the end.
And in a nod to the recent slasher craze at the time, it briefly plays on the "if you're a teenager who smokes pot and has promiscuous sex, you're gonna die" motif.

( and for the very first time since he left for the hospital 23 years ago ) . Norman walks partly in and stands in the doorway of the room it's very dark
except for a bit of light on the right side of this scene ( and TV screen)
( possibly from the bedroom window which we don't see )
reflecting off of his mother's chifferobe door
is also a medium sized cut-out of the Alfred Hitchcock silhouette too IMPO - It was most likely done in a sort of a memory cameo of the director .
Thanks so much Dramatic Look Gopher
for this awesome film sequel reminder too .

Just like the first " Poltergeist 1982 film "
this fine sequel is just as effectively scary and most memorable after all these years too .
A huge plus with this sequel film
it delves more into the back story of who exactly was haunting the Freeling family
and why it was happening in the first place .
Thanks so much Deb for this
awesome film sequel reminder here too .
