Dracula 1992, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. A "think big" version of Bram Stoker's famous story, played maybe more on the erotic lusts than as a horror movie, with once state-of-the-art effects. If I didn't know the main storyline I admit that this movie would have been very confusing to watch. I liked it but I can also understand if some don't I like it.

WITCHMAKER aka THE LEGEND OF WITCH HOLLOW 1969 -- If you hated Blair Witch for its found footage nothingness then this is the film to erase the experience. It is produced by LQ Jones and has a higher budget look--think Horror Hotel or the Devil Rides Out with a little dash of Evil Dead if set in the 1960s. Closest thing I have seen to an American version of Hammer Gothic-style with the use of spooky swamp locations. Not a spfx-focused affair but as a curio of late 60s independent horror film with a professional cast and some really good looking witches.

The Pit and the Pendulum 1961, directed by Roger Corman Atmostpheric and colourful but takes a bit time to get going. Vincent Price's (role) has lost his wife, wives brother comes visiting, erupts old sins like Vincent's (Role) father was a cruel man of the Spanish Inquisition with a horror chamber in the deep cellars, and the castle on the cliff where he lives might be haunted by Vincent's (role) wife who might have been buried alive. The male lead actor hero, John Kerr, is so incredibly stiff and boring. The pendulum is great but sags a bit in the first parts, and it has a great ending, before end titles.

I totally agree here teleadm
it really is a great film with
it's crazy wild storyline ,
awesome all star cast ,
and great ending too .
IMPO - The reason it appears to lag a bit is because
it seems to have that essence of anticipation .
The slow building up formula to keep you intrigued
wanting you to watch more as the storyline goes along .
I believe most of these early 1960's
classic horror films stuck with
that particular formula as well .
I actually have this film on DVD it's a double sided disc with
my other favorite Vincent Price film
another really good one with it's
own unique brand of mystery & intrigue .
Thanks so much teleadm for these excellent pic selections
and for this great film reminder here too .

Blood Rage (1987) - 6.5/10 Also known as Slasher in the title card. Filmed in ‘83 but not released til ‘87. Basically a Thanksgiving-set slasher but it has an interesting story to it. A kid named Terry kills someone at a drive-in and frames his twin brother Todd for the murder. The falsely accused brother is sent to an institute. 10 years later, it’s Thanksgiving Day and Todd escapes, while Terry snaps and goes on a killing spree which makes everyone else believe it’s Todd. There’s some really corny moments and some decisions made by characters are painfully dumb, but at the end of the day, it’s a slasher and it makes enough sense. The twin brothers are played by the same actor and he does a pretty good job distinguishing the roles. I just wished there were more onscreen deaths but the aftermath of some was pretty cool. The uncut version was online so I was lucky enough to see that version. The original poster artwork is lame as hell though. (What’s with the hunting knife? He carries a machete.) Arrow actually released an edition with a much more fitting cover.
That's an awesome tagline for this film
on the second movie poster here .
Surprisingly I never heard of this one before but it seems like a really fun popcorn type film
from your description of this storyline here also .
Thanks so much jamesbamesy for these

The male lead actor hero, John Kerr, is so incredibly stiff and boring.
It's Price's movie all the way and Kerr really does nothing in the story except ask questions and be the victim who needs to be rescued by the sister and the "hired help." An interesting thing is that while he is driven mad, you get the sense that it could be self-induced or hereditary since he is keeping the torture device running. Plus, the brilliant twist where we find his wife is locked up in the contraption.
"This was my father's world, Mr. Barnard.....How can I spare myself? Was he not my father? Am I not the spawn of his......his depraved blood?"
The music and her screams offscreen when he goes at her is really good. I never really appreciated Les Baxter as a composer for some reason but his scores are very effective. I heard the recordings of the music for this film have disappeared or they only exist with the sound effects added. I assume someone has re-recorded it into a soundtrack.

I really don't understand what you mean here teleadm .
I wasn't trying to be unfriendly here and I agree everyone is definitely entitled to
their own personal opinions about films etc. here as well .
I just thought you would have found this statement by this actor as interesting as I thought it was - I guess I was wrong here .
I'm so sorry if you feel I have offended you here in some way
that certainly was not my intentions at all .

Don't worry! You haven't offended me one bit! I have always valued your opinions and I will always value your opinions! Sometimes I take a glass too many! not a defense, an explanation, that is not an excuse, but a curse. I'm very sorry if I ruined you day here!, I really am!!
