An example is The Great Gatsby (2013). I was getting a headache watching that movie. The cinematography and editing was driving me up the wall. 1 hour into the movie I just had enough. I should have known better too, because for me Moulin Rouge is one of the most obnoxious and boring movies I have ever seen. That is also fair, though my inclination is to say that's a medical situation. Then again, I hate waste to the extent I probably would stay in a theater unless I really had to leave, as in my body is leaving even if I don't want to. I'd also try to give someone else that shit sandwich because the only true way to waste it is throw it out. I hate waste. I'd also be pissed about losing ten dollars.
I think you are bothered by wasting money more than me and probably rightfully so. I don't have bills I pay and I assume you do. I have wasted far more money than 10 dollars. I have wasted hundreds of dollars.

This might also help to explain it. I am a very impulsive person.

I've just never known anyone who doesn't have bills they pay. I'm not proud of it but money's always kind of fascinated me. I even had a phase when I started working that I didn't want to spend anything because it was the effort of my work. I wasn't out on my own yet.

This might also help to explain it. I am a very impulsive person. I would agree, as I am not particularly decisive. I have moments where I am but my natural state is more indecisive. Depends on the issue/situation though.

That seems awfully far to get into a movie and walk out though. Don't get me wrong, if you're walking out half way it must really suck or you must be really agitated by it, but surely the theater's going to say you've been in there long enough, no refund. I don't expect to be refunded. Movies are a chance you take, though I am usually pretty good at picking movies I think I will like. I have seen hundreds of movies at the cinema and only have walked out of 4 due to the movie putting me in a foul mood. One interesting example is War Horse. In this case though I would have finished the movie had I not went into The Adventures of Tintin which started 10 minutes before I left War Horse. War Horse I stayed only for 30 minutes. I don't hate the movie and have since finished it, but going into Tintin was a much more enjoyable experience than what I watched of War Horse. So in this case there wasn't any wasting of money, because I still only paid for one movie. I saw War Horse in a theater. Not Adventures of Tin Tin though. I've had fairly decent experiences at theaters. I love going to the movies. I figure if I didn't walk out from Semi Pro I can tolerate a lot. I've even liked movies in the theater that I later watched and didn't like. I guess it's the atmosphere and a theater's ability to transport me that goes the extra mile.

I've never walked out of a movie. I also always finish movies, even if I hate them. I usually always finish movies, but "finishing" them I use loosely in some cases. Fast-forwarding or doing something else while the rest of the movie continues I am counting as finishing. And sometimes there are bad movies I have finished over the course of like 3 days.

Off the top of my head David Lynch's Inland Empire might be the one that tested me the most, just because it's 3 hours long. I've actually kind of disliked it less in retrospect though. I don't often watch movies that I think I'll strongly dislike though and I seem to be pretty good at choosing stuff that I do end up liking.

I'll sort of go back and forth watching the screen and doing something else, but I am still listening to the movie while doing other stuff.

I've developed a bad habit of fast-forwarding the opening credits of movies I recorded. It has to have a certain type of opening music that I just don't find appealing. It happens more with older movies.

I don't hate them on principle, but if it's late and I've made it my mission to watch a movie, I'll skip the credits just to get to the point. Would you say your friend is a patient man?

Eh, I don't know. I don't think he's hugely impatient, but I guess he just prefers movies to start right away and have the credits at the end.

I've never walked out theatrically, yet I've given up a home viewing often enough.
The last theatrical viewing that was a miss for me was ID42 Independence Day 2... I thought they'd at least try to match the first's nuances, alas this one went full sci-fi junk food nonsense mode. I fell asleep during Jurassic World, yet that was merely killing time in Niagara Falls one time - after busy morning & busy evening to follow. Still, that movie was a dull bore.
I recently recorded via Silver Screen Classics, The Lady Vanishes... only to realize 25 mins in I'd already seen it, & stopped. There are classics like that where once was enough.
