With The Mummy flopping in the US do you think Universal will cancel their Dark Universe? There really doesn't seem to be much of an interest in it.

Probably. Unless they release their next movie and it's a hit.

no, they do a course correction with next film and mostly ignore the mummy, like marvel does with the incredible hulk

Not a chance. They will make adjustments as they go along but it will continue.

I'm also a little confused about the bigger picture of this shared universe. I thought the point of the shared universe was that there would be a set of films where all the characters star together like The Avengers or Justice League. Even the shared monster-verse is doing Godzilla v Kong. Is there supposed to be a film where all these monster characters like The Mummy meet?

It happened with the original universal monsters in 3 films "Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman", "House of Frankenstein", and "House of Dracula".

They'll probably try again, yet fall into the DC trap of rushing their macro plans. They'll try to rescue the mummy by coupling it in with a more popular monster.

The Mummy is headed towards $300M worldwide and has topped the global boxoffice for the second week. Not what you'd call a big hit, but will be enough to keep this cinematic universe going.

THE HOUSE OF THE WOLF MAN is available on DVD in a commercial release. It stars Ron Chaney, the grandson of Lon Chaney, Jr. Haven't seen it myself, but have always been curious. Anyone seen it? House of the Wolf Man

Like the other posters, I agree that Universal will continue with the remakes of monster movies.
