Did I expect IMDB to have a drop? Yes. Do I expect it will drop even further? Yes. Do I think it'll be permanent? As long as there's no boards, yes. Do I expect IMDB to bring back the message boards if traffic drops too low?.... Possibly but that'll be a very long time from now. I expect them to integrate some sort of message board for each film, tv show, actor, that is driven by and integrated into something like, if not exactly, facebook groups.

I agree, though I hope that's not the case. Not a fan of FB, and will not use it.

I tend to believe that IMDB will become Amazon's main movie streaming site, with tied in reviews like Netflix.
The boards certainly would piss-off content providers (who hate our real-life opinions of their products that can't be directly collared.
Watch it morph over the next few months.

I believe you may be right, they've just added the Watch now ribbon to the movies (not all, or at least I never noticed it before), I assume you pay to become a member and then...

I am not the only one who was on last year's 'The Force Awakens' board and watched how it almost crashed the system on IMDB with all of the negative posters fighting with the less positive ones. The thought went through my mind that Amazon, flashing 'Star War's' banners everywhere was not going to allow these boards much life in the near future because of it's potential to kick content and product providers in the ba**s. How much server space did the boards take up? NADA. Don't users on the boards download movies- All traffic is good traffic, unless Disney says I want them gone first and then you can have a sweet deal. Paranoid- not really. It makes (business) sense.

I totally believe it was a plan to monetize IMDb - and trolls and bad comments would not help the site Then you have the studios making demands as to where their content can be streamed would certainly not want lots of bad comments on the same page

Me to thanks to this and one or two other sites. Thank you Admins! Same here, I thought it would be worse but thanks to this one and TMDB i'm doing just fine without IMDB. I haven't been back there in 6 days and don't plan on giving them any clicks any time soon. That's exactly what I am doing too. Using this site and TMDB, it seems like a perfect mix and I am not missing IMDb either. It's been kinda fun, helping build up the individual tv and movie boards at TMDB. But, I can't live without I Need To Know and the Horror Board, so I joined here too.

Thats great if they have lost 30% of traffic, that should drop down as irregualr users turn uo and stop coming back. Also as the people who have "left" dont drop back for the occasional look, and new people start coming to the alternatives as they get better known. I deleted my account on there

Are user comments from IMDb deleted or archived All message board content was deleted, but Jim at MovieChat.org archived a great deal and someone created a torrent which may contain everything. Eventually MovieChat should have most or all message board posts restored. As for other user comments--as far as I know, reviews not removed during the great exodus are still up. That is the only reason I would return, to archive as many reviews as possible before IMDb disappears for good. If it turns out someone has done this, or is in process of doing so, it saves me a lot of trouble.

I'm not suprised. The people participating in forums, contributed much to the site imo. My guess is that a new updated forum with moderators, and upvoting, downvoting will be added. The trolls will do everything they can on dozens of accts they share, to upvote their posts and try everything they can to ruin it.
