My favorite is The Night Stalker. It scared the crap out of me when I was a way too young to be watching it without my parents knowing. I would have loved to have seen Ghostwatch when it aired but I'm an American. On the old site I requested and was told several cool stories from Brits who watched it when it aired and of course who thought it was real. I have seen it and it's done really well but knowing what's up going in the show loses it's true ability to terrify.
I also voted for Dark Night of the Scarecrow. Anyone else remember Killdozer? I also have a vague memory of what may have been an unsold horror anthology pilot in the late 70's but it was presented as a movie with 3 (?) stories Again it was something I watched when I was real young and may have seen it long after it was first shown. The only story that I recall involved some type of swamp monster made of mud and after a door is slammed on it, the hand continues to attack the couple in the home. Of course the mud creature does as well.
Does that sound familiar to anyone? Definitely NOT Swamp Thing or any theatrical movie.

"Mikey" wasn't a made-for-TV movie. Theatrical, but went straight-to-video. Oh. I don't know why I thought it was a TV movie. There was very short lived show on late night USA network that only showed the death scenes to horror movies, and Mikey was one of the movies they showed once, maybe you saw it there and thought it was a TV movie.

Some good titles here. From this list, I'll go with Trilogy Of Terror.

No, it was the full movie. I remember the scene of him placing his dead family around the kitchen table which I thought was so creepy. Even if was a theatrical release, it's still possible that I saw it on TV. It sounds like something that might have aired on the USA network in the '90s.

What's your favorite made for TV horror movie? For me most definitely " Trilogy of Terror " from 1975 . This was my #1. favorite Karen Black movie and still is - it's a memorable eerie creepy popcorn fun flick indeed . Also liked the sequel made for cable TV Movie Trilogy of Terror 2 1996 ( with actress Lysette Anthony ) . Some really excellent Horror TV Movie Selections here from this list too . Thanks so much profondorosso for your subject post .

The Night Stalker AND the Night Strangler, as well as Dark Night of the Scarecrow. Kind of funny to see that pedophilia theme in there, given all the attention recently on such things.
Trilogy of Terror had a great segment but the other two I fast forward through.
Same with the Night Gallery pilot. The best segment being the Roddy McDowall painting.
Black Noon is another creepy tv movie.

My vote is for Ghostwatch ('92). I think it's brilliant: one of the best, if not the best, televised ghost stories of them all. It truly exploits the medium far better than any of its successors, in which I include the (often annoying and really kind of dull) much-vaunted Blair Witch Project. Wonderfully clever. It's also truly, spine-tinglingly scary--and that one twist, involving the time at which certain events take place (those who have seen it know what I mean), is ingenious. An excellent production all-around. May I ask—does anyone else here love Ghostwatch? I know poelzig likes it, but anyone else?

I'm still actually wondering. I guess I'll be wondering for eternity, then? Four people voted for it. I'm one and I assume you also voted for it. There has to be at least 2 others. Maybe they're afraid to draw the attention of Pipes.

I voted for Trilogy of Terror, it's the only one from this list I've seen, and I didn't even see it way back when either. I watched it about two years ago, and the sequel, as part of an October Horro Marathon. Thanks for making this list, gonna try and see some of these now.

I LOVED Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, I had it on tape when I was a kid, but the quality was so bad you could hardly make out anything, so last year I got it on DVD and holy crap it's so different when you can actually SEE everything in perfect detail, now I love it even more.

1972 - "The Screaming Woman"...ABC Movie of the Week
Olivia de Havilland plays an old lady who had a "nervous breakdown" and is just now returning home. When she's outside around the garden, she keeps hearing a woman crying for help. Of course when anyone else is around, no sound. Everyone thinks she is going crazy again. In reality, a woman is buried out there and still alive,(somehow). In the end she tries to dig her up, but the husband who buried the woman there comes along and tries to kill the old lady. Just then the buried woman pushes her hand through the dirt and grabs him. Then she rises out of the mud!!
Probably wouldn't even count as "horror" these days. There's only a couple of scary scenes of the woman underground, and the ending. As a 10 year old kid, it scared the shit out of me!!! Sadly never rereleased on VHS or DVD.

I think Frankenstein: The True Story should be on the list. I would have voted for it.

I think Frankenstein: The True Story should be on the list. I would have voted for it. That was a good one I forgot about. David MacCallum, James Mason, Michael Sarrazin, and a very early role for Jane Seymour. Two parts on 2 nights. It was very well made, but I don't remember it being scary. Seymour's last scene was rather horrific though.

Another one that is not mentioned in this thread is an old one called "She Waits" starring Patty Duke. If you can find it, it is well worth seeing. Very scary.
