It's pretty well known that the Romans loved boy sex.

Scene Bill and 9th legion Roman soldiers sitting around Bill: oh no sorry I only like girls Once again, the "Bill" apologists here are caught in bald faced lying when they say her being a lesbian isn't mentioned every single episode. I love how the writers and their apologists claim this SJW character is an "important step" to showing that "being gay is no big deal anymore" when they tell us how "progressive" it is that SHE'S GAY!!!!!!!!!! every episode and market the ENTIRE season around having a GAY!!!!!!!!!! character. If it were any more blatant, they would have named the character Gayle Lesbiana. It would be like me saying I'm doing a Doctor Who season to show that modern day Britons don't focus on the Christian religion in this day and age, then start the season off by introducing a devout church-going Christian in the first episode with a storyline that revolves around his efforts to lead the bible study at his parish. Then, every episode after that would have him mention "Oh sorry, I don't do that on Sunday, because I'm a Christian, you know". Reminds me of how John Kerry ran his entire 2004 presidential campaign on the "I served in Vietnam" message while putting out PR messages saying he didn't want the presidential election to hinge on "service to one's country"

Well apparently it means something to Moffat and his fellow hack writers, since if "being gay is no big deal in this day and age" (as they and their fans continually claim), they wouldn't have to find a way to reference it in EVERY episode.

So what you are saying is that her being a lesbian is a major problem for you.

I have no problem with a character being a lesbian. One of my favorite shows from last season was Westworld, and it had two openly lesbian characters in the first season alone: Clementine Pennyfeather and Elsie Hughes.
I do, however, have a problem when "being a lesbian" is the ONLY reason a character exists. I'm not a fan of one-dimensional characters that are there as window dressing on a show, so the writers can pat themselves on the back for being "inclusive".
Sadly, you don't seem to be able to tell the difference between the two.
Holden Caulfield is a character who happens to be a teen.
Horny pot-smoking teen #5 murdered by Jason in the latest Friday the 13th movie only exists in the movie to "be a teenager".
Please educate yourself and learn the difference.

You gave me a lot to think about... I am truly changed. Clearly I must now hate the character and rail against her and everyone like her. Thank you.

But you were okay with the gay and bisexual Romans? C'mon Catman, the Romans had far more historical relevance than being known bi-sexual party animals. And they didn't talk about it every 5 minutes Bill's answer to everything is "oi I'm black and lez, I'm so oppressed"

Thank you. You're very welcome. See, if you stop screaming "TROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!" at everyone who bashes this season, and start LISTENING to the reasons WHY we hate it, you can learn something important. I will note one die-hard Whovian who sat thru the ENTIRE season thus far instead of joining my boycott, had this to say to me in hindsight: ------------------------------------------------------------------- [–] krl97a (148) 7 hours ago I've seen every episode and this season is awful. I'm still watching it, but the BBC has given me no confidence that any show runner they hire would be anything but a leftist, PC asshat who's out of touch with the zeitgeist, who treats the Doctor as a god (bad) rather than a curious investigator prone to bouts of heroism and practical problem solving (good), and who panders to the fringes of gay/transgendered activism while largely ignoring or attacking the other 97% of the population. As a Doctor Who fan since I was a kid in the early 1980s, I'm hoping they cancel the show before they completely destroy its legacy.
------------------------------------------------------------------ People ARE waking up!

I know what you mean. When Amy and Rory were the companions I found it irritating that they mentioned that the two were heterosexual even to the point of making note of the fact that they were in a relationship with each other IN EVERY DAMN EPISODE. Couldn't they just tell the story without throwing those two characters' heterosexuality in fans' faces every week?

Couldn't they just tell the story without throwing those two characters' heterosexuality in fans' faces every week? Rory was kind of dopey, it took a while for him to grow on me. He really didn't get interesting until they introduced Rory's dad. However, I thought it was hilarious when Rory was erased from existence and then came back anyway still wearing the Roman centurion uniform from the last adventure. NuWho can't come up with any male companions who AREN'T the boyfriend of the main female companion, so again, it was the crappy writing. And the characters mentioning their relationship in every damn episode is also a trademark of NuWho, classic Who never mentioned the character's significant other back home. I just got done watching the Patrick Troughton era and Zoe (who was cute as well) never mentioned her boyfriend, at least not in the surviving episodes that are available today.
