As the plonkers at IMDb have closed down the message boards I can no longer add details of which British TV Series have been renewed / cancelled to the pages for individual titles like I used to do. It looks like I will have to start up a thread for each genre of programing that I can then update as and when I hear any news. So, here's my latest news on UK comedies...
Witless = BBC Three have commissioned a third 5-episode series of the comedy-thriller for 2018. The series following mismatched flatmates Leanne and Rhona who were placed into WITPRO (witness protection) after witnessing a gangland slaying is expected to be made available via the BBC Three website and BBC iPlayer in early 2018 (January?) and then broadcast on BBC1 later in the year. I've loved the first two series of Witless, so I'm pleased about this - but Series 3 is expected to be the final series for the show. British Comedy Guide
Big Field = BBC Three have commissioned an extended 10-episode third series (the second BBC-backed series) of the innovative and seriously surreal online series. Big Field uses a combination of recycled audio clips and items bought off e-bay to create parodies of popular TV programmes in a large field. The new series will again be available via the BBC Three YouTube Channel. Badgers!!! British Comedy Guide
Walliams and Friend = David Walliams has confirmed that the BBC have commissioned a second series of the sketch show, there are few details so far but it is likely to air at the end of 2017 and conclude with another Christmas Special. Let's hope there are more hits than misses this time around.
Yonderland = Sky1's fantasy-comedy mixing live action and puppetry has reached the end of the road though. The satellite TV giant has announced that the programme won't return for a fourth series. British Comedy Guide
Mount Pleasant = Sky1 have also announced that the comedy-drama will not return for a seventh series. However, filming is about to commence on a feature-length finale episode to end the show which will be broadcast later this year. British Comedy Guide
