These two movies were pretty similar and came out within a couple months of each other. People have often asked which is the better movie.
Which one do you prefer?
I much prefer Armageddon, it's a little overblown but it's much more exciting, the characters are more memorable, better soundtrack and much better effects.
Deep Impact was good but it was mostly just build up.

I agree with you. I enjoyed Armageddon more than Deep Impact.

I remember when they came out me and a friend of mine argued which would be better. I've seen Deep Impact more times than Armageddon and I like it slightly more. Armageddon is still fun to watch though.

Deep Impact, by default. Deep Impact is a mediocre movie, but Armageddon is just horrible.

Then there is Michael Bay's style. Hi film is barely watchable on a big screen due to the rapid MTV style editing. Yes, there is more action in Armageddon but its budget was double if I remember correctly. One critic said that it was like a machine gun with a jammed trigger spewing out images. However, on a smaller screen the brain can absorb its images. Deep Impact explores relationships far better, in part because it offers this instead of unnecessary action. It is also a homage to fatherhood and experience. Armageddon also has one of the silliest love scenes I have encountered in a film.

I vaguely recall taking a very strong pro-Deep Impact stance at that time.
Can't tell you a single reason why now, though!

Deep Impact
Aside from being a better overall film, the mere fact that it doesn't have that God-awful Aerosmith tune in it makes it winner by default.

Armageddon is a dumb movie but it's not boring.

Armageddon is a guilty pleasure of mine. Plus, I got to look at Jessica Steen for two hours.

Armageddon was definitely more entertaining. And after all, movie-making is known as the "Entertainment Industry"!

Deep Impact, by far the superior movie in every respect.

I wonder how bad the effects for both look today. Anyone know if either is on Netflix or something?

I remember being REALLY blown away by Deep Impact back in the day. Saw it in the theater, etc. Armageddon I saw a year or two after it came out, and it was "fine" but didn't leave any real lasting impression.

Armageddon, by a long way.
The last forty minutes of Deep Impact is the best part of the whole film. The rest is really dull.

This is very close in the poll. I wasn't sure which would get more votes, now I see why.

I would say Deep Impact is the better movie. Armageddon is too cheesy.
