I actually hope they don't bring back the MB. I've had a far better time on here than I did the IMdB Mbs. Far to many trolls and OT Topics to be enjoyable

I wrote they should bring back film specific message board forums. We don't need 8000 general/watercooler/political/news/etc boards. Just give us film specific availability to discuss. I agree. I never could see why they needed to have boards for politics etc on a movie site. the individual movie boards were the interesting ones. You speak the truth stranger behind a screen.

They made General boards like that because certain movie boards became defacto hot topic hubs. The Passion of the Christ was a religious forum for example. There was very little conversation about the actual movie.

louiseProblem got to be that politics and religion and general bickering, trolling and idiocy moved over onto all of the Movie and TV Based boards. It was total chaos and serious discussion and casual chitchat about shows and movies was becoming impossible. When they announced that The End was coming, all hell broke loose and best behavior was not in evidence to convince the powers that be to change their minds. Thank goodness for V-02 and for Admin John who gave us a new home WITH active moderators.

Which sites are you using? Mostly Wikipedia. It's just easier to navigate on my phone. And Wikipedia tends to have more movie info, anyway. There's also TVTropes.

@weirdraptor With Wiki though, you have to plow through paragraphs and paragraphs to find what you are looking for. The pages on IMDb are easier to navigate and the trivia, quotes, filmography are set up to facilitate finding details . It was nice submitting images and seeing YOUR screenshots appear on the film or tv pages. There are some tv shows that the only images are mine, all mine ! Muhahahahah !

Honestly, that's never really bothered me. I find Wiki's layout easier to traverse despite the wordiness.

For whatever IMDb would time out a lot of times when I was using it, but not Wikipedia. So I'd just use the Message Boards, but nothing else.

@weirdraptor My connection is DOS speed, so no matter which I am using, life is in the slow lane.
Finding what I want to find is faster for me, when I do get there, on IMDb.
Wiki has some interesting stuff when I just want to browse.

They can offer visitors a free and open forum for people to talk about how fucking stupid IMDb is for closing the message boards.

So now IMDb is running surveys asking visitors how they can improve the site. Irony. ok--took the survey, asked for message boards back

Ok
So, say that IMDb did bring the message boards back, including the abysmal lack of moderation, would y'all just abandon V-02 and go there again ?
If so, why ?

The IMDb v1.o site is still handy dandy for looking things up and v2.0 is a vast improvement for messageboarding. Hell yes.

I don't even go there any more. If they brought back the boards I don't even think I'd go back. They boards were a mess & many users were out of control.

I don't like what IMDB have done! They have screwed over genuine posters because of certain individuals! They should've been more vigillant with trolls and sock accounts! It's been 6 months and now i'm settled here and happy.
I think this site is friendlier and has better features.

The IMDB is dead to me.
Although I do maintain an account there, I logged out when they deleted the message boards. I haven't logged back in since, and I almost never visit their site.
As to how they can improve their site, my answer is "go offline".
