...didn't Missy remember the "older" Master zapping her, since they're the same person?

...didn't Missy remember the "older" Master zapping her, since they're the same person? Same reason she didn't remember almost everything else. When Time Lords interact with their past selves, the past self does not remember the encounter.

...didn't Missy remember the "older" Master zapping her, since they're the same person? Simple. Bad writing from Moffat. You needn't concern with it too much, since Chris Chibnall will ignoring "Series 10" and future Who writers will pretend that dung never happened.

We'll see.

When Time Lords interact with their past selves, the past self does not remember the encounter. ^This is the correct answer. It's been well established in every multi-doctor story that when a Time Lord meets past incarnations of himself, only the latest incarnation remembers the events correctly. This is why the Ninth and Tenth Doctors spent their entire existence believing he had destroyed Gallifrey (as the War Doctor) and the Eleventh Doctor also believed it up until the time he actually experienced those events as the Eleventh Doctor.

I think it's a mistake to equate long life with long memory. At no time has the Doctor displayed superlong memory. If you lived to 900 years old you'd have to be a robotic logical personality to remember what you did at say, 85, on top of which each regeneration shakes up the brain cells, memory must be affected. Presumably The Master has the same physiology. Also did I imagine this or wasn't it mentioned once that the Time Lords can erase a Time Lord's memory of meeting an earlier self?
