Ha Ha. You have got to be kidding. No one out there REALLY believes BvS is better than SM"HC. It is not possible. BvS is garbage. It cannot be rated higher than a 5/10 and that is if you really liked it. SM:HC was actually a very fun and well done movie. Nothing about BvS is solid as a rock. Anyone who says this is just a blind fanboy with absolutely terrible taste in movies. Translation:

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Probably trying to protect Ditko's reputation so his objectivist leanings didn't get in trouble in the industry. His objectivist stuff is weird, but that doesn't take away from the general storytelling approach he had. Once he left, Peter became neurotic and an Archie Betty and Veronica style dominated.

Once he left, Peter was allowed to grow up as a character. No He ended up with two girlfriends and a constant cycle of aunt is sick, feeling doubts, etc. One reader in the Spider's Web called it Betty Brant syndrome. Every female character he interacts with ended up neurotic like Betty. Guaranteed if Ditko stayed on Gwen would not have instantly become one of the gang and neither would have Harry.

Once he left, Peter was allowed to grow up as a character. No He ended up with two girlfriends and a constant cycle of aunt is sick, feeling doubts, etc. That was gonna happen with or without Ditko. He didn't even want him to stop being a teenager. Which would have been a shame, because his characterizations of them were very 1-D.

Where did you read that he wanted to remain a teenager? He had Peter graduate from high school and start college (that was when he was sole plotter). He has Peter meet Liz Allen on the street afterwards--that story thread dropped when Romita appears. Gwen and Mary Jane became Betty and Veronica--and you say Ditko was the 1 D writer? It did not appear Gwen was going to instantly become a gang member-and we dont know what Ditko was planning with Mary Jane since he was keeping her hidden.

Where did you read that he wanted to remain a teenager? Other forum, years ago. I'll have to look it up. He was opposed to it, so it was forced on him. Beh, Ditko's Liz wasn't much of a character. It was better than the random jerk Gwen was under Ditko.

He was opposed to it, so it was forced on him. He was the plotter for the last dozen issues or so--how could it be forced on him?

"Plotter" didn't amount to much, in that case. The plotter designs the story and in the case of Ditko all the artwork. So it was Ditko who drew Peter Parking graduating. Lee was not involved in that. He said he didnt even know what Ditko was going to do because they hadnt been speaking to each other. Lee would get the artwork, see what Ditko had drawn and added in the dialogue based on that. Since Ditko had a very specific emotive style of drawing it wasnt hard to add the captions and dialogue.

By that point, Ditko's "plotting" was a nominal position. I think we have run the conversation into the ground.
