Moffat cannot be trusted.
Yes, we "won" the major battle now that "Bill" has been written off the show and there will be a new showrunner in charge next season to start over from scratch, but Moffat still has the reigns for the Christmas special. That means he has total creative control over what viewers will see on Doctor Who if they tune in on December 25, 2017. He can do anything he wants during his "farewell" episode. There's a good possibility he will use his last-minute tenure on the show to cripple his successor's era, similar to how many defeated lame duck Presidents use their last week in office to enact a bunch of "executive orders" and last minute pardons and commutations that their successors won't be able to undo.
There are several awful things that Moffat could spring on us as a "surprise" for the Christmas special. For example: Now that he's no longer getting weekly hate mail about "Bill", he could bring her back for a last minute "surprise appearance", (which would, of course, consist of her reminding everyone she's gay and probably show her getting married to another fugly lesbian so Moffat can get a pat on the back for being "progressive"). He could also bring back the "Paternoster gang" so they can go "full circle" with the Calpaldi years, and they'd likewise spend the ENTIRE Christmas special reminding everyone that they're married. Heck, maybe Moffat could combine the two and have them marry "Bill" and showcase polygamy on Doctor Who so he can be really, really "progressive". Worst of all, Moffat could have the Doctor regenerate into a new version whose casting was solely to pander to the SJWs... like the Doctor's new actor is a Transgender man or an even uglier black female (and of course you're "racist" for pointing out that Doctor Who has 10X as many black characters as the actual black population of the UK), or the new Doctor is a Muslim, and so on...
Bottom line, if Moffat redeems himself and actually brought back Clara and gave us a GOOD Christmas Special with likeable characters and a compelling plot, we can always check it out AFTER it airs – and there will be plenty of time to see if before the new season begins. Until then, until we are SURE the Christmas Special does NOT suck, it’s too big a risk to view the episode the day it airs. Doing so would send the BBC a message that we "support" what Moffat had done to Who over the last three years.
In short:
THE BOYCOTT MUST CONTINUE.

THE BOYCOTT MUST CONTINUE. I agree with everything you said, however, since I don't have a Nielsen ratings box, my tv views are not counted, so any boycott would be strictly symbolic.

I agree with everything you said, however, since I don't have a Nielsen ratings box, my tv views are not counted, so any boycott would be strictly symbolic. Well, here's the thing. I've said for a while that the BBC doesn't even care about whether I watch the show or not, because I'm in the USA and Doctor Who has always been a domestic institution for them. Overseas viewers are just an added bonus for them. So the idea of the boycott movement is not that us refusing to watch will directly hurt the BBC financially (although Doctor Who's ratings are indeed terrible and the BBC is definitely noticing it, no matter how much they spin it and pretend audiences loved "Bill" and the SJW nonsense from 2017), rather the reason behind the boycott is for personal reasons. I have fond memories of Peter Calpaldi's era on Doctor Who because I stopped watching BEFORE it became cringeworthy crap. I refused to watch Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for the same reason -- NOT because I thought my boycott would cause the film to bomb at the box office, but because my boycott ensured I would always remember the Indiana Jones TRILOGY ended on a good note with Indy riding off into the sunset with his dad. As I noted, if the 2017 Christmas special actually turns out to be GOOD, we can always watch a repeat of it before the new season airs. However, if the Christmas special indeed sucks and Moffat "surprises" us with some garbage that ruins Calpaldi's final episode, that awful memory will be stuck with us forever and be a painful reminder of what happened whenever we re-watch old Calpaldi episodes.

That IS a good point that I hadn't considered. Capaldi is definitely tarnished by season 10, even his good episodes.

Yep, keeping telling yourself that. When Doctor Who ratings crash this season to their lowest level in DECADES and make the cancelled 26th season of Classic Who look good in comparison, when celebrity Whoivans that are lifelong fans like Ken Ham make a public announcement they've reached the end of their rope and will refuse to watch the show any longer () , when die-hard female Who fandom on the internet who blog about getting TARDIS tattoos make YouTube videos suddenly announcing they're deliberately sitting out this season (see: www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TjB6n5DdOY) .... Nope, there's no boycott. It's just me some loner on this board making up that claim by himself. The fact MILLIONS of Doctor Who fans have ALL tuned OUT this season is just some amazing coincidence and couldn't possibly be because they are disgusted with the direction "Series 10" went, and are actively boycotting the show.

Yep, keeping telling yourself that. Since it's the truth, I will. Though it's rather hilarious that you think there is one.
