The first season aired on MTV. Almost 2 years after season 1 premiered, season 2 will finally begin airing in October 2017. However, season 2 will be shown on Spike instead of MTV. Spike is currently rerunning season one on Thursday nights after "The Mist".
Did anybody watch season 1? Did you like it? Are you looking forward to season 2?

I watched season 1 and loved it. I had been wondering if they would continue, this is good news.

I enjoyed season 1 also. Hopefully season 2 will be as good. I really don't like it when there is this much time between seasons.

My favorite books of all time. Found the TV series unwatchable.

I'm re-watching season one as they replay it on Spike. It's a bit better than I remembered. The first couple of episodes are solid, at least. I do like the casting for the most part, fx are decent, some nice locations going for it. I recall some of the later episodes being a bit too "MTV." I enjoyed the early "Shannara" books when I read them years ago, so there is a bit of nostalgia factor. Some diehard fans of the books totally hate the show, though.

Is anybody here watching season 2? The first 4 episodes have aired. Next week Spike is showing 2 episodes back to back. I don't know if that means they are going to burn it off.

Well the remainder of season 2 is going to play out with 2 back to back episodes per week until the end on Spike. That fact plus the fact that Spike has never renewed a scripted show suggests that we won't get a season 3. I hope I'm wrong.

The Shannara Chronicles has been canceled. True to form, Spike (or Paramount network whatever it is this week) has announced there will be no season 3.
The show runners are shopping it around but they always say that and it is rare that a cancelled show gets picked up by somebody else.

Every article I find talks about the price tag and how expensive it was to produce each season. Anyone have any figures? Judging from the trailers, it didn't seem like GoT money.

The cancellation doesn't surprise me. Many diehard fans of he books couldn't deal with all the deviations from the novels, and fan response was fairly tepid otherwise. A shame. I thought it was a fun show, if not the most challenging or intellectual show out there.
