I've sat through the prequels, but had to turn this off after an hour. Others have pointed out the similarities to A New Hope. My main complaint is so much of the screentime taken up with sequences that don't advance the plot at all. What little plot there is.
They had a chance to give us something new, take the saga in a fresh direction. Nope.

Nope. Yeah buddy. I know how you feel. I think it's because TFA is a copy of ANH in story. Well, it copies almost everything from ANH really. But there's so little genuine plot because it's just pieces of ANH's story put back together without it's original purpose and plot. Which is why it looks so much like the original and occurs in mostly the same order; but half the scenes either don't advance the plot or just don't make sense from a plot perspective! Here are just a few examples (and this is not a complete list): > Kylo killed Lor San Tekka, the only who new where the map piece was, before he knew if anyone else knew where it was or how to find it otherwise. >. Finn breaks Poe out without a real plan. Poe tells him he needs a pilot and he suddenly realizes he needs one for his plan or escape to work. > Rey and Finn escape Jakku and are flying around aimlessly in space for a considerable amount of time without any idea where they want to go. It isn't til Rey works on the Millennium Falcon (presumably trying to get the hyperdrive to work) that they begin to discuss where to go. So they still must be in the vicinity of Jakku since they haven't used the hyperdrive yet. But Kylo's Star Destroyer orbiting Jakku can't see them leave, scan them leaving, or track where they're at!>. Han Solo picks up the Millennium Falcon from halfway across the galaxy because of the tracking device on it. (Solo even says later at the cantina front door that the Falcon had a tracking device on it and it's only a matter of time before the First Order detects it). Then the Guavian Death gang picked up Han's ship from who knows where! The Guavian boss Baka-Tik says to inform the First Order they escaped with the droid BB8. All this happened in the vicinity of Jakku! Where the First Order should've been on the scene before anyone else. > Maz gives a big speech about how evil the First Order is and how important it is to be stopped. Then refuses to get involved on any level. > Poe disappeared without any explanation and showed up later without any real explanation. In the meantime he gave no reason for not following through with his original mission of finding BB8. The one he was so desperately dedicated to that he had to return to Jakku. Where he was just captured, imprisoned, and tortured! And the First Order is hot on his trail. >. Leia is the leader of the Resistance. But we're supposed to believe that no one can see the obvious connection between it and the New Republic with her at the helm (just like she was in the OT). TFA's story is like a bicycle or go-cart that was put together without instructions. The kid is so excited just to take it out and play with it just to feel the experience! But in the end "parts fall off" and it doesn't do everything it's supposed to do. Some viewers are just so desperate to feel the experience of being on that bike or in that go-cart again that they just don't care how poorly it was put together.
