I give it a 9. Episode was practically everything I wanted. But...I ask this...what is it exactly that Euron is going to bring Cersei that will convince her? I'm almost afraid of what it might be. In the episode 2 preview, we see Euron's fleet, and the sandsnakes in action. It looks similar to the ship battle we see in the trailers with theon, yara and presumable the sandsnakes. It would be a cersei approved gift to bring the sandsnakes to death. I'd approve as well lol.

Metacritic doesn't have a rating for the season yet. They probably learned from their mistake last year. Then they based the rating on a couple (just 9) reviews from episode 1 and episode 1 was one of the weakest episodes of the season. Normally they showed the first 4 episodes of the season to the critics, but this stopped as of season 6. Had the critics seen the first 4 episodes of season 6 (especially The Book of the Stranger) the rating would probably have just been as high as usual. So I think they're waiting with adding reviews for season 7 now until the end of the season or at least until we have a few episodes. That makes sense. I was wondering why season 6 was so low.

So poor Jeorah never found that cure eh? Surely this isn't the end of the line for Ser Friendzone. He's got even less of s chance now! I really was pulling for him, no joke. According to a YouTube video I saw earlier, one of the books Sam was reading through said dragonglass can cure some diseases. Greyscale is probably one of them. That would explain how Shireen survived it, she lived next to a stockpile. Ser Friendzone will be fine.

That coupled with Ed Sheeran's cameo says GoT has been Hollywoodized and its kinda sad.

But he's so far gone now, or at least his arm, it's really gonna stand in his way of getting with her ::tongue:: -or anyone else for that matter lol. If it weren't for Shireen's face showing the remnants even after being cured I'd have to wonder if it heals in the sense of it all going away or just stopped it from spreading at whatever point it's at. I always wondered why they never went into detail about exactly how she was cured. In Stannis' explanation to her he never states it explicitly, and she never asks. I'd have said "Okay, so of all the things you did, which one worked?"

I feel kind of sympathetic with Dolorous Edd, who made us laugh so many times in the books and show. But it seems he is going to head the first line of defence against the Night King and his massive army. His face was like "what the hell Snow, you left me in charge of this?" when Bran reminded him of the army of the dead.

Why is the Baratheon sigil still on King's Landing in the credits? I was wondering about that as well. Maybe it's because Cersei is technically still Robert's widow? She was crowned Cersei of House Lannister, so the Lannisters are the official ruling family now, at least in the three kingdoms (at best) where their rule is not disputed.

Cersei could still be of House Lannister even if she took the throne as a Baratheon to make it more legit.

I gave it a 6. It was alright. I wasnt all that blown away by the opener. Looking forward to the next episode when the characters learn of and try to figure out how to deal with the Mad Queens daughter. Especially, Cersei. Shes been downplaying the growing threat since season 2/3.

I gave it a 8. In typical Game of Thrones fashion the first episode was all about setting up the pieces in the chessboard more than actually advancing the plot. Pilou Asbæk was the the MVP of the episode by embarrassing Jaime and promising a gift (my guess is something to deal with those dragons).
Nice surprise at the citadel with Lord Friendzone making his appearance and Sam has a really shitty job.
Disappointed that Dragonstone is abandoned which doesn't make any sense. Stannis would've left a token force to defend it. I guess the so called "battle tested commander completely forgot to man his seat of power.
Still probably the third best premiere after the pilot and Two Swords.

She remodeled the damn throne room and replaced the seven pointed star with a Lannister sigil! That doesn't change anything I said. Legally, she would take the throne as the last surviving Baratheon and make it any way she wants, just like Robert took the throne on the basis of being a Targaryen but keeping the elk sigil. In any event, there's nothing stopping the opening scene changing to a lion anyway.

Well, I’m way behind with the show. I only just started watching Season 7 tonight on Blu-ray (which I got for Christmas). **somewhat spoilery below if you haven’t watched the episode** I liked... Arya taking out the Freys. Cersei and Jaime’s scene together. They may have just been talking, but I was interested in what they had to say. Favourite moment from that scene was how Cersei referred to Olenna. I always like seeing Jon Snow in his leadership role. Sansa was getting on my nerves a bit, but would then be kind of awesome again. I’m glad she made clear to Jon that she thought of him as the furthest person from Joffrey that she knows. Podrick getting in one hit against Brienne when she was briefly distracted by Tormund, then punching her hitting him was good. The guys Arya hung with seemed decent enough...which probably means they’ll either turn out to not be how they first appear or will die horribly. Maybe both? I didn’t really care one way or the other about Ed Sheeran being in the scene. I didn’t really care about the Hound and his stuff either. I wouldn't want Sam's job at the Citadel. Nasty!
No kidding. I actually thought the montage was pretty funny, I've seen some negative comments on it but I didn't mind it at allIt was mildly amusing for a brief moment...but then got to be a bit much, I thought. The bed pans and food bowls were identical. I couldn't tell the fresh food from the recycled food.Yes, exactly what I was thinking. That had to be one of the more unpleasant scenes on this show (and given some of the stuff they've shown...that’s saying something). What I really enjoyed was the episode ending with Daenerys & co arriving at Dragonstone. The music played during the scene always gives me chills when I hear it (and always makes me sad, as it will forever remind me of when it was used as she locked up her two dragons). It was a really well-done scene, I thought, with no dialogue until the very end. Very effective. “Shall we begin?”. Indeed.
